He is at 41 points. I don't think any player has done this before. This is insane. It's like he broke the NBA and is taking advantage of some glitch.

Is this any kind of relevant with the question? The question was whether 2 (not 3) consecutive 40-point TD's have been achieved. The answer is yes, by Pete Maravich, Michael Jordan and, unofficially, but almost certainly, Wilt Chamberlain. Whether you like it or not, we don't care and whether they'd achieve them now is speculative and irrelevant.

Pathetic league, you said? Unlike today's league that receives almost 3 40-point TD's in a row by a single player, right?

Does Wilt have the real record for triple doubles? ESPN at halftime just posted a stat for "most consecutive triple doubles over the past 40 years" (predictably Jordan was #1 under the arbitrary cutoff). Who has the real record and what is it? I assume Wilt or Oscar have the legitimate record.

I think it was Wilt with 9 (or so says Wikipedia). Oscar posted 7 consecutive during that season where he averaged a triple double (41 of them that year).

Thanks, Psileas and 24 Inch Chrome. It is a travesty how ESPN and others in the press consistently ignore Wilt's records. It is a crime against history. Give us the real facts and allow us to make judgments regarding them. Don't constantly keep giving us arbitrary cutoffs or simply ignore real record holders (like they ignored Wilt's record for 40 point games and designated MJ as having the record when KD was on his scoring streak). Oh hey, "Be Like Mike" with the catchy jingle just came on during halftime. How fitting. :lol

I did catch the segment where they showed Kobe, Magic, and Jordan's consecutive triple double list (MJ had 7 to those guys' 4 games).

BTW, in Wilt's last 12 games of the 67-68 season, he had 11 triple-doubles, with the record of nine in a row. In the one game in which he didn't get a triple-double, he had nine assists.

So, he was ONE assist away from 12 in a row.

Yeah. It is a joke. You don't see this being done with the press in any other sport. The record is the record. It also seems whenever this kind of stuff is done it is 1) MJ who is benefitting 2) Wilt who is being erased from history.

Everyone plays their best game of the season against OKC, even scrubs go off out of nowhere. Check Bledsoe/Morris stats the very next game after they beat the Thunder. And check the role players that went off against us today in their next game. They always come back down to Earth.

Not only was it an inflated pace era but lack of a 3 point line severely inflated the amount of shots that were blocked. That and the fact that the competition was so bad that Bob Cousy was a 1st team all-nba guard.

Yeah, Bledsoe torched him, but Canaan was hitting some ridiculous 3s. It was just one of those nights, because the entire 76ers roster hit some ridiculous 3s. Props to them for making the shots, but I wouldn't say Russ necessarily got torched tonight. Canaan was dribbling down the court and just pulling up from a few feet behind the 3P line and canning 3s.

Just as an example...in Wilt's 67-68 game of 53-32-14 (on 24-29 shooting from the field, and with an estimated 24 blocks and 11 steals)

The NBA First-Team Guards were:

Dave Bing and Oscar Robertson.

Second Team Guards were:

Jerry West and Hal Greer.

The league also had Walt Frazier, Sam Jones, Gail Goodrich, and even John Havlicek (who could play multiple positions.)

Wilt won one FMVP, and would have won a unanimous one had the award existed in '67.

He is at 41 points. I don't think any player has done this before. This is insane. It's like he broke the NBA and is taking advantage of some glitch.

The closest I can think of is 1989 Jordan, who had:

40 pts/7 reb/11 ast
40 pts/10 reb/12 ast
47 pts/11 reb/13 ast

In consecutive games. Though this was over 6 days, not 3.

Im only/mostly shocked/surprised by his rebounding..... Points/Shots he will be getting even on bad nights now with Durant out (he has to) and he is dominating the ball more than anybody in the league now and at PG aswell, so he will be getting some assists...... i expected that output...

But his rebounding cant be explained, thats the reason behind the triple doubles.... 7 rpg at 6'2-6'3.... and last 13 games he averaged 10 rebounds a game....... like wtf?? :biggums:

laz just **** off, really, nobody gives a shit about Wilt now in this thread, just try to contact your relatives, maybe they'll take you in, I know life must be hard in the old folks house.
How was christmas without getting any kinda call from your relatives?
How's the feeling of all your friends being dead either from old age or from you being too annoying?
Do people in the house often smell bullshit, then ask who shat himself, and then see your with your mouth opened and immediately understand where the smell is coming from?
Gtfo you flaming fakkit, no wonder you have to spend your days in an internet forum where no soul gives a shit about what you have to say.
And Wilt was a noob choker
