View Full Version : At 6'2"-6'3" & under has there ever been a better rebounder than Westbrook?
He is averaging 7 RPG right now in 33 minutes and is most likely about to finish with more than that by the end of the season as the minutes will go up for him... last month he averaged 9.1 rpg...... past 13 games he averaged 10 rebounds a game.... per 36 he averages 8 rpg... per 40 he averages 9.... and its not just def. rebounds, he is agressively going after any boards...
This is ridicilous....

lol, no but he does remind of scrub Cavs Lebron era, where he had to go literally speaking 1 on 5.... going after rebounds, doing all the assists, doing all the shots...
If Westbrook continues with this (OKC winning) he will be a clear-cut runaway MVP....

Bigger balls part isn't even debatable. :facepalm
7-8 seeds don't get MVP winners, it's either Harden or Curry 100% even if Westbrook averages a triple double for rest of the season.
Jason Kidd called.
Yea but he was like 6'4-6'5 and most he did was 8 rpg (in 37 mins).... its impressive, dont get me wrong, but what Westbrook is doing is a bit more impressive....

When Westbrook averages 30 points and 9 assists with DPOY defense (he was runner up to Dwight) on 50% shooting in 38mpg and single handedly lead his team to 66 wins in a conference with Boston's historic big three, Prime Dwight and his magic, Atlanta's big three, Young up and coming Bulls squad with a future MVP D-rose, Miami lead by a D wade who put up 30/5/7, Philly lead by a 20/5/5 with elite defense Iggy...

I either want to be full red for the Heat, or full green to represent my brilliant posting. None of this halfway shit.
Anyways, KungFuJoe kindof killed this thread.... Fat Lever.... http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/leverfa01.html
He even averaged 3 offensive rebounds at one point... ouch... and its not like we can use any 60's era pace/poss. per game agenda against his productions....
What Westbrook is doing is only 2nd to that though, so its still pretty nuts.

How the hell is Westbrook MVP? He has missed a ton of games and his team is the 8th seed. This streak is crazy but gaudy numbers won't win you MVP. Right now it's between Curry and Harden (ugh).
Honestly I'll be disappointed if anyone but Curry wins. Otherwise it makes the MVP award even more ambiguous.

harden has as good or even a better case than curry.

I think its between Harden, Lebron, Curry (in that order) right now, Westbrook after them.
I just meant that if Westbrook continues what he is doing and OKC keeps winning, he could grab the MVP, dont need to have the #1-#2 best record, #5 is enough if your individual prowess has been greater than those other MVP candidates especially when considering what you had to work with around you....

Westbrook at 6-2 and 1/4 is virtually the same tier of height

Fat lever is the best rebounding 6-2 to 6-3 guard. Peaked at over 9 rebounds per game for an entire season twice.

For the 1990 regular-season, Fat Lever averaged 9.3 RPG over the course of 79 games, in less than 36 min per game.
^That's with a TRB% of 13.6  For comparison, Westbrook is at 11.2 for this season.
And Lever was a very good athlete but not what you call overall elite, plus he was 6'3 and not more than 185 lbs...
Playing in a league with Rodmam Hakeem, D-Rob, Tarpley, Oakley, Cage, etc. Against PG's like Magic and Darrell Walker (two of the GOAT rebounding PG's), plus McMillan or Porter.
You see him play and it seems like the dude had a supernatural sense of knowing where the ball was going to end up, plus he was very quick, crafty and tough, with some extremely fast hands. Unreal rebounding fundamentals too.

Jason kidd in 2005 playoffs outrebounded an end prime shaq.. in 2007 against the cavs he grabbed more rebounds than anybody else as well.. 12 per game.
He's averaged double digit boards a bunch of times and if you look at the stats he was his teams leading rebounder in most series.
Without looking I know rondo has had a handful of insane rebounding series of 10+ per game.. and hes six foot nothing.
