That's 2/2 guys that were down right wincing in pain after tearing their Achilles. Wesley Mathews and Brandon Jennings.
This ni99a knocked down two FTs and walked off without support. :biggums:

Yeah, I don't like him personally but the guy is a warrior. I've watched sports long enough to know how athletes react when they tear their Achillies. Most guys are in agony and are carried off the court/field.

That just tells me he didn't hurt it as bad as them. A full tear of the Achilles tendon makes your calf muscle bunch up iirc

Kobe is a boss, no need to demonstrate pain. When he walked off that game I actually thought it was a something minor cause he didn't show how much it was hurting.

since people would not give him credit for anything he's ever done, I don't think those people would give him this either.

There were posted at the time that legit thought Kobe was faking it :oldlol: . Even days after this was confirmed, there were still people dead set that he was faking it and it wasn't as bad as it seemed.

Still remember that game. Kobe shooting freethrows on a torn achilles while I was giving my ex-girl backshots. I was tearing up and etc. Dude literally carried the Lakers to the playoffs and paid the ultimate price.

not to mention he went down at least twice in that game and was limping prior to it happening, pretty sure he also injured his knee when he collided with Barnes earlier in the game and + another possession, where he drew the foul and limped back towards the half court, falling over in the process...and he didn't sit down :(, God was sending a message and he kept going until achilles ruptured...
saddest game I've ever watched on TV. He was clutch as hell, too and on pace for another 40+ point game.

It came after a month where they said he should pass more, then he averaged like 12 assists that month. Lol. But during those final ten games, didn't he average like 35 6 8 or some shit? Dropped 47 on the Blazers recently before the achilles game.

I feel like its more of a conglomerate of things though. I remember the 2000 Finals where Jalen Rose intentionally tried to injure him and he ended up coming to back to play the last few games. The achilles tear and the subsequent ft's are just consistent with what lakers fans have been seeing for a while...

Kobe averaged 30/6/7 in his final 10 games
Kobe was forced to play point guard because both Nash and Blake were out with injuries, he had no choice but to play 40+ minutes because they sure as hell weren't gonna get into the Playoffs with a D-leaguer starting.

Kobe was refusing to come off because he made a promise they would be in the Playoffs, so it was Kobe's decision. As a coach, MDA should have used his power to bench Kobe's ass but he was looking great even in the 4th quarters of the games he played 40-48 minutes, like the NO and Raps game, b2b 40+ pt/12+ ast games.
I know it was a season to forget, but Kobe gave us a lot of great moments :applause:, it was his best since 09.

It was shit with the way it ended, but Kobe was amazing all season and he gave us a lot of fun games and highlights. He looked the youngest he had since like 08...he looked great and very athletic all year...I'm still pissed off about that achilles injury....with Kobe healthy, we would have at least made that Spurs series interesting. Instead, Andrew ****ing Goudelock was starting for us :facepalm

:facepalm So sick of this Kobe mythology BS! This is exactly why people don't like Kobe. Half of LA's roster was out with injuries during that first round series, not just Kobe. Howard played through a back injury all season and got no credit for it. Yet he's expected to beat the Spurs with nothing but an aging Gasol and a bunch of second unit players? :sleeping

Sometimes Duhon would Shoot and it would only hit glass....Started playing better later on in the season. Lakers finally hit the jackpot with Clarkson, in my opinion. Been while since we had a legit point guard with handles.

Been lurking this forum for a while. Aren't you and a couple of others consistently touting that season as the year where Kobe "couldn't get it done" with a star studded team with Nash, Howard and Gasol?

Are you seriously saying that team didn't underachieve? :biggums:
Yes they had injuries, but they still had way too much talent to be struggling to make the playoffs like they were.

And through a torn labrum. He also came back from the back EARLIER than was advised because he was eager to get out there and contribute. Did Laker fans appreciate the effort? Of course not. You know why Howard left the Lakers? Because there are more Kobe fans than there are real Laker fans.

They had experience...Experience bro. Talent is a different story. I could argue that the 09 lakers had more talent than a broke down Howard and a soft Spaniard.

Real lakeshow fans wanted Howard to wait a couple more months before returning. Trust me On that. And it wasn't the fact that he was injured. It was his constant demand for the ball in the post combined with a lack of offensive skillset. Dude got stripped 80x per game.

Still one of the league leaders in TO. And still injury prone.
But it was Kobe and The Lakers fans putting too much pressure on him.

He should be able to handle the pressure as he used to be a top 5-top 10 player in Orlando and he led a team to the Finals against some tough competition....
It just shows how fragile he is and how he has no intangibles...all flare and no substance. Can't handle the pressure.
If you want to be great, you have to thrive under pressure. Howard did show up the 2nd half of the season and was consistent. I think he should have just rested a couple months because he cost us a lot of games.
