Most wide-open years in recent memory, imo.

2005
2006
2007
2008

The only wide open year you posted was 05

06, 07 were clearly Kobe

08 Lebron wasn't good enough or consistent enough defensively, and was still lacking certain skills (post game, footwork, jumpshot) to be considered the best. Still was Kobe.

2005 - Kevin Garnett (LOL at all those picking Duncan. This was easily KG's 2nd greatest season after his epic season the previous year. Spree and Cassell were garbage compared to the previous season. The fact that he had little help doesn't change the fact that KG was pretty easily the best player in the league in 2005. Wide Open...ppft)

2006 - Lebron James

2007 - Kobe Bryant

2008 - Chris Paul

Nothing clear about it at all...

How do LeBron/Dirk/Wade not have arguments for '06?

2005-2007 are years without any clear best player, even going back to ISH threads from that time, and most of the selections for best player went to Duncan and Nowitzki. 2007 was usually Duncan.

lebron in all of them. Averaging like 30/7/7 during those years and leading his bum team to finals and semifinals.

These clowns saying 06/07 was clearly Kobe.

Sure, Kobe has an extremely strong argument and picking him is a perfectly fine choice, but it's anything but clear-cut.

That was Duncan's 3rd best defensive season (after 04 and 03) and he stepped up big time in the Playoffs.

Anyway, my choices:

05: Garnett based on his Regular Season play, but it's hard to pick him since we couldn't see him underperform in the postseason. I'm picking Manu.
06: Dirk/Kobe
07: Duncan
08: Garnett
