View Full Version : Mavericks = Pretenders
Looking like a 1st round exit. When their opponents play good defense, they struggle to score... as you can see in the Warriors game. Their team defense is also garbage. I don't see how they're going to make any noise.

Honestly, Mavericks, Blazers, Rockets maybe even Clippers... Does anyone actually believe these teams can win it all this year? They aren't beating the Warriors or the Thunder or the Cavs or the Hawks in a series.
No shit. However don't count out Rick Carlisle. he can get them past the first round if the matchup is right.

Anyone expected them to be contenders?

Yep, they are garbage.
Such little excitement from a team that "won free agency/offseason"

If Portland was healthy I could see them competing. Lets be honest Durant could easily get another foot injury and if its just westbrook he will just continue to put up empty stats.
Anyone expected them to be contenders?
I remember after the Rondo trade, almost everyone was saying they were a lock for the WCF

Warriors are pretenders to be honest. Curry will get shut down by San Antonio or Memphis.
Not saying the Blazers are going to win but they have about as much of a shot as the Warriors.

You have no idea what you're talking about.
And yeah, Mavs honestly looked better before the Rondo trade. Their defense was mediocre, but their offense was historically good. Rondo just isn't a good fit.

I applaud you for taking "retarded" to a whole new universe :applause:

I agree, at this point, Mavs are barely even pretenders, if that. Pre Rondo, the offense was a beaut. Post Rondo, just above average. Defense is better though. Mavs are still trying to figure things out IMO. Ever since Rondo got here in late Dec, the team hasn't exactly have had a chance to play together for an extended period of time and gel. Tyson got hurt, Monta is playing hurt, Parsons got hurt, Rondo got hurt, Harris is hurt. Add in trying to acclimate Stat, that's more pressure on the Mavs. Plus it doesn't hurt that Dirk has been playing like he's already ready to retire since the all star break averaging only 12 points.
IMO once everyone gets back healthy and the team gets a little burn together and gets a chance to gel, Mavs will look a little better. I think when Parsons gets back he'll be asked to be the 2nd scorer on the team over Dirk. There are a lot of moving parts on this team that are going to get moved around. The team should improve heading into post season.
Still at this point its hard to envision them as anything more than a tough first round out even if the things go well. No chance of Rondo staying a Mav beyond this season.

Thunder/. lol. Thunder will be facing the warriors and one of them will be knocked out.Plus even with Durant they did not look good. Houston blew them out at full strength. The Warriors is the only team in the west that i fear as a rockets fan.

Thunder would sweep the Rockets in a series. Houston should fear every team in the west, mainly because they are not a legit championship threat. Period.
Maybe your tiny brain will finally understand that when they are dismantled in the playoffs.

No, the West is stacked, but GS, OKC, and Memphis are just a cut above the rest.

Rockets are 23-14 against the west, even without Howard, and now Jones is back and dominant.
As a rockets fan I really only fear GS now with Ariza to guard Durant.

This is pretty much my point, not saying they aren't good teams but they aren't good enough. These teams would still wipe the floor with the likes of Wizards, Raptors in 7 game series.

I'd lump the Spurs in with the second tier.
GSW
OKC
MEM
LAC
POR
HOU
DAL
SAS
A few eastern conference teams
The rest of the west
