View Full Version : Should the Knicks look to trade Carmelo Anthony?

He has a no trade clause, but the Knicks could let it be known to him that they want to move him and that there are teams interested. And let it be known loudly. And then maybe he would agree to a trade if it is to the right team.
Discuss.

They should consider every option, including trading him. He'd have to come back next year and show that he fully recovered from the knee surgery.

No... Why trade their only marketable player

Derrick Rose is pretty marketable.
He does good advertising for Armani and Skittles sitting on the bench, plus he has a lot of ride or die nut hugger fans.
I'd trade Carmelo for a top 3 pick.
That way, the Knicks can potentially build around Jahlil Okafor and Emanuel Madiay/D'Angelo Russell.

Okafor Melo and Gasol is the best front court in the NBA

Nah,
Noah Gasol Melo. GG.

Melo shouldn't be in the Knicks' future, and there's 0 chance that Gasol goes to NY.

I'd love that but since he is untradeable with that contract, I wanna see how meshes with their draft pick first (if he even does).

Was surprised Phil even wanted to sign him really. Gives me doubts as to rather he can build a team.

It was almost certainly a Dolan mandate. And you cant blame him considering as long as an ESPN star is playing for the knicks, no matter how overrated, their fans will slurp him with unquenchable thirst and throw their money at the knicks to get their hands on carmelo merchandise.
Cuz yeah fans are liek really smart like that.

It's arguably a better trade for the Knicks and dude is totally throwing Rose under the bus which, for a hypothetical situation, is kind of stupid.
I think Melo could do well on the right team, but it'd have to be an already good team. I think he'd fit in on GSW.

Should have done a S&T last summer to Bulls for expiring contracts + both their mid first rounders + Mirotic/2015 first rounder. Pretty sure Mirotic would have been off limits, but Snell and a future pick could have been had. Might as well tank correctly.

You're STILL making Knicks threads? Have you not learned your lesson?
I'll just have to get both of us banned again. I have to take one for the team.

Knicks should have never signed him to begin with. He's an over-rated one-dimensional ball hog chucker, doesn't fit the GM, coach or system and has never accomplished anything in the NBA. The Knicks are a joke anyway, and I guess they felt the need to sign their "star" because they will be awful for a long time.
Chicago would have been perfect for Melo, but oh well...I guess he has 125 million reasons to stay in NYC.

Phil Jackson feels otherwise. I'll take that over a toy robot's opinion.

Melo has one of the worst contracts in the league, what the hell was phil thinking? They should have offered 4/80 tops, take it or walk your one dimensional fat ass out.
