So out of boredom I'm watching the footlocker slam fest 1992, the competition they used to do of non-NBA athletes participating in a dunk competition. There's several attempts I've seen that were unsuccessful that are just mind boggling athletic from those track athletes but here's one that actually just went in that I had to double-take:

I don't think I've ever seen an NBA player able to do this before :biggums:

That dude could do free throw line dunks. Pretty sure there are videos of it.

Not shocked at all.

Yes they say that in the videos, they showed all the competitors doing their primary sport during the intros.

no.
Why wouldn't they? From a 6-1 guy? Off-hand free throw dunk from a foot BEHIND the line!? Up and under reverse jam? Those are very very incredible dunks made even more incredible by his height of only 6-1.

That's pretty impressive. In the NBA, the farthest that a guy jumped from the FT line is probably Ibaka. But let's remember MJ legitimately jumped from the FT, double pumped and didn't have to fully extend his arms to make the dunk, which means he had room to spare. I would just like to see which player can jump from as far back as possible without any style points.

I've always preferred gliding dunks that emphasized flight/hang time versus power dunks. Lavine is amazing but he does the same type of dunks over and over again. A guy like Drexler made dunks look beautiful becuase it looked like he was gliding.

Aaron Gordon also did this insane dunk in highschool which is even better imo. He should really go into the contest with Lavine and Wiggins.

Underrated aspect abut Conley Sr.: seemingly large hands to be able to palm that rock so readily, unless the ball was a little deflated (which is definitely possible). Insane no matter how one looks at those free throw line dunks though.

Sidenote, that double pump reverse was Tim Perry's bread and butter between 1993 and 1995. Only in '93 the pump was weak and in '95 he missed all his attempts at it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0ZkfFBdG-I#t=0m17s

Nice :applause:

Something about it doesn't shock me as much as when I saw Conley do it. Maybe it's the elevation due to his 6-1 frame. Maybe just because it's the first time I ever saw the dunk executed.

Either way his follow up dunk I posted though I'm not sure has ever been done - FT, behind the line, with the off hand. His height or lack there of makes it seem like he soars more than most guys who do it too.

No man, that FT line dunk is some of the sickest shit i ever seen baring the context....... 6'1"... way behind the FT line..... are you ***ing kidding me?

If i saw this in the 90s then i would completely forget about MJ's FT dunk or at least chuckle at it.... no wonder it wasnt trending... :P

some of the shit I've seen at Rucker live tops even this. there's many no name high flyers out there doesn't mean that they wouldn't get destroyed by a D league player.

Conley Sr.'s elevation and dunking ability far surpasses Perry, who was famous for performing in the contest as if he were half asleep.

Conley's always been near the top of the ladder. He has a two-handed, one-footed dunk from a hair inside the free throw line as well, finished off with a massive hang.

Did you catch this - the 2 preview dunks from both athletes, better angles:

The second dunk was ... awesome - two handed dunk from just inside the FTline !!!

Didn't Mike Powell do a two handed dunk from the free throw line?

And that first up and under dunk was pretty pedestrian, if you ask me.

Conley (Jr) has hops too, but for some reason he doesn't use them often. I've seen him jump off two feet and effortlessly dunk two handed without much run up.

Every now and then he'll surprise you with a big block in a one on one situation or even a big rebound. He gets up quick. It's been years since seeing him dunk tho.

Not really, no. Vince's dunk was more impressive since it was in game and his flair was better, and he threw it down more powerfully, but Conley took off legit from outside the lane while Vince's lead leg was magically under the basket when he took off. Big difference in distance, to say nothing of their height difference.

Obviously, there will be a bit more drift off one-foot whereas Carter's two-footer provided the levitation and fury.
