Pelicans fans, why is he such a black hole to this point in his career, do you see him developing an inside passing game any time soon or is he basically in the mold of a Kevin McHale - great potential defensive and scoring PF but a black hole with the ball on the offensive end?

What's Wilts assist career high? (rhetorical DO NOT ANSWER)

His apg has increased from 1.0 as a rookie to 1.8 this season. He's only 21, so there's very little doubt in my mind that he'll average 2.5-3 apg in his prime as he improves.

Maybe more if he gets a coach who's worth a damn.

It's frankly frightening to think that this isn't his prime.

pretty good for a guy who only affects the offense on open shots provided by teammates

Because when you are averaging 25 ppg on 55% .605% TS, there is no dam reason to pass the ball.

Oh and he's way better than Wilt.

His best season average is equal to Lebron's best. Let that sink in.

While relentlessly statpadding to the detriment to his team, on a league that had 30-40% more possessions, with little to no defense.

Would be equal to 2-3 assists in today's league

Wilt did have a 24.1 ppg / 7.8 apg on 68% shooting one season, so that's not necessarily true.

His team won 68 games in route to a championship that season, so he wasn't stat padding.

I love Davis, though. It's great to have a new potential elite big for the next 10 to 15 years in the league.

Now back to Davis. He had a great 43 point game with 6 assists that's when I noticed that was his career high, thus the thread. Seems like a rather low career high though he's still early in his career.

Different role though. That was volume scoring Wilt.

I'm not criticizing Davis for lack of assists. I love what he's been able to do so far. I just hope he stays healthy for his entire career. There's nothing more dissapointing than seeing a potential great big have his career sidelined by injuries. Such as Oden or Sampson after his first several seasons. Or Walton too (talk about a great passing big, though).

He was stat padding on purpose. Wilt is literally the definition of stat padder.

Some players like kobe stat pad accidentally. By that, I mean stat pad his teammates OReb #s. Wilt stat padded his own.

I didn't see the games, so I'll have to defer. But I doubt it's really stat padding when your the offense for a 68 win team is running through Wilt on the high post, as I understand it.

But I'll let someone like Laz, Cavs or fplii respond to that.

He doesnt get assist because he scores so easily and the offense doesnt run through him.

Would dominate Wilts era.

Nope. LeBron's was higher, slightly. And adjusting for era it was about 5x higher.

There's no way Davis doesn't average at least 70 ppg in the 60s. No way.

OP, do you ever watch the games?

Davis rarely gets a chance to create shots for himself or others. He gets the majority of his points off of open jumpers or cutting to the basket. He is amazing at it.

No thus I asked the question in the OP, looking for answers like this.

I got a bunch of people talking about Wilt instead.

Thanks though.

Assists, especially for big men, won't tell you whether they're a black hole or not.

Watch the games; Davis is far from that.

Who should he pass to?

CavaliersFTW
03-10-2015, 03:45 PM
Who should he pass to?
Players who are open, cutters, etc

But what I'm gathering from the few people who responded honestly is that his touches are more opportunistic in the nature of loose balls and offensive rebounds rather than actual feeds is this correct?

What about when he's actually fed, does he then have the ability to wait/look for opportunities to set teammates up and keep the offense/ball moving or does he tend to turn right to the hoop and look to score?

He's basically poor man's Marcus Camby.

It's just that whenever he tries to dribble or pass the ball it just goes in the basket instead. It seems it's the basket that is actually the black hole.

His teammates can't hit open shots except Gordon. Tyreke prefers to create his own shot for whatever **** reason.

What do you mean if I think!? I'm not asserting an opinion here.

I'm asking a question - based on being surprised 6 assists is his 'career high'.

No shit I don't watch the Pelicans, asking is an admission that I don't watch the Pelicans is it not?

You can answer the topic at hand with your first hand observations or not, this is not a thread about Wilt no matter how much trolling you wish to impose.
