Not even exaggerating, probably 40/20/10 blocks every night.

Yup. I agree...in terms of career averages. He would peak even higher though.

Insane numbers. We gotta realize that Rudy is a 2015 human being, those can't be compared to a 1960 human being. We're so much stronger, faster, and simply better made nowadays.

Since we all know late 50s through Wilt's retirement is the GOAT era of hoops, I doubt Gobert could even get a job as a milkman or janitor, let alone, as an NBA bench player in Wilt's era.

So basically, optimistically, something like:

35-50 crates delivered per day, with 5-7 floors swept, and 2-3 toilets unclogged per month.

You guys need to stop comparing players from 1 era to another. People from the 60s did not have the technology or performance enhancing material that the players of today have. You think they had galaxy tablets to explain to them how the other team is guarding pick and rolls with the ability to show them in slow motion?

Unless you're just doing it to troll the fans of the old timers.

I'm guessing it'd look something like:
18 ppg
30 rpg
20 bpg

He's not a gifted scorer, but Thurmond scored around 20 ppg for a few seasons in a row, and he was stiffer than Mutombo. SO I'm assuming Gobert would be around the same.

39 ppg
41 rbg
29 bpg

88+% FG

He would put Wilt to shame.

For all major sports: humans haven't changed.

Things like rules, meta-games, systems, medicine, and training have changed. Basketball, football, baseball, and other sports have drastically evolved over eras. Obviously...

If you don't think the best players of previous eras couldn't succeed under the same circumstances as today's athletes, you are misled.

A silhouette of this would be the current logo of the NBA:

Take a look at this highlight clip of the 2015 All Star game. I don't see much of a drop off, if at all, in terms of skill level between your clip and this.

What if people stopped making horrible "what if" threads that are absolutely pointless and have no basis in reality and are completely speculative?

What if?

Are you serious?

Heres the "GREAT" Oscar Robinson passing to the "GREAT" Bob Cousey for a fast break layup that bounces off the backboard...

Really?

This guy's shot would get SWATTED in today's NBA. WTF kind of form???

Gobert's dribbling skills would be so advanced for 1960s that they would make him the PG

European didn't play in the NBA in the 60s so he would be playing in France.

Would avg around 50/35/15 blocks. Then we would hear old men call him the goat and how he would dominate this era.

Swede Halbrook would be a 25-15-5-5, .600 FG% guy in today's NBA.

And he would abuse the much shorter Hibbert's, Gasol's, Jordan's, Drummond's, Cousins', and Howard's of this era.

I love that in that 60's ASG clip, the teams were doing nothing of note, so the announcer had to say "...they play 12 min quarters.." lol.

That said, every single game will have moments of "WTF how are they pros".

The Cousy around the back bounce pass to Wilt posting up? Wilt being the best post player in the league feeling comfortable taking a turn-around fade-away bank shot? No matter that he missed. It was close, and he clearly felt comfortable. Shows the level of talent for both players.

These are the worst types of threads. There seems to be no in between, just one side or the other.
