Shaq and Pau there to carry his ass?

What's the scenario? Does Shaq come? Do Wade and Bron get moved to the West?

Same teams Kobe has always had, just on the East. Everyone stays as is.

I think playoff Lakers with Gasol would beat prime Heat.

He honestly might have more Finals MVP's, '01 becomes a very strong possibility

Who knows he might had a better career but maybe not.

Let Calipari and the Nets draft him instead of them being told not to.

Kobe + Shaq was gonna win no matter what. Its only the egos that limit how much they could win.

Would put up Jordan stats. 7/7 in finals tho

No, because people would still hold Shaq's FMVPs against him when comparing him to Jordan. I think this is an unrealistic scenario though- "let's put him in a weaker conference in a worse market but he gets to keep his GOAT tier coach and HOF bigs."

If he stayed in Charlotte or was drafted by Calipari's Nets, he'd have been much worse off imo.

Regarding beating prime Heat, I don't think they would. 2011 Lakers were much worse than the two previous iterations. CP3 beat them twice by himself in the first round that year with a sorry supporting cast. Wade, Bosh, & LBJ in their prime would beat them that year. Lakers were really worn out by then.

Edit:
After thinking about the way OP framed it, I think he makes more Finals with Shaq. They maybe win 1-2 more titles, but I'm unsure if he'd snag a FMVP in that stretch. I don't think he has much playoff success in period post-Shaq, pre-Gasol. I think he wins same number of rings with Gasol regardless, unless he gets knocked out by Celtics in conference finals.

I do think it's possible he goes down as GOAT sidekick if he had played his whole career with his Laker teams being in the East.

But in reality we'll never know, since he obviously played in the West and at this point will never get a sixth ring to match Pippen.

Pippen was never a sidekick. He was 1b to mike's 1a.

Pippen is IN the top 50 greatest players of all time. There are no sidekick on that list.

Pippen was on the same level in the Bulls hierarchy as mike.

Can you guys stop feeding the troll? Report his most outrageous posts, and neg him. Don't reply, that just makes him bolder.

Explain why Scottie Pippen is in the "50 Greatest NBA player of all time" list.

Care to justify him as a mere "sidekick"? Sorry, but you are the troll in this thread.

Playing for the Lakers under Dr. Jerry Buss created a far greater chance at success than playing in the Eastern conference.

Stupid scenario. He fell into the best situation possible. If he played in the east he wouldn't have played for the Lakers.

how about lebron, if he played in the no defense west? considering how his numbers are already better against them.

lebron's #'s

vs. East: 27.4/7/6.8 on 49.4% from the field
vs. West: 27.5/7.3/7.1 on 50% from the field

he would also have a field day in the playoffs with far greater numbers and more rings and most likely be 6/6 or 7/7 in the finals.

28/7/7 on 50% in the regular season.
30/8/8 on 51% in the playoffs.

goat.

He would have an easier time getting to the Conference Finals... but there he would have to meet prime Lebron-Cavs, a player & team that always embarrassed Kobe-Lakers... i dont see him getting to the finals at all... he would just have his 3 sidekick rings and thats it.... he would also have to battle more often with Wade and lose many votes at sg spot to him for AS game and so on and maybe not even be the best SG in the east, maybe not even the 2nd-3rd best player in the east.....

so be happy he stayed in West....

If playing better defenses which leads to scoring less efficiently is referred to as "GOAT" nowadays, then yes, Kobe would be GOAT if he played in the East.
