Sorry to rain on your little parade but "Rogue One" isn't the first. It isn't even going to be the second. (Ewoks: The Battle for Endor was the second, in 1985)

"Rogue One" is going to be the THIRD Star Wars stand alone film.

I have the Battle of Endor on DVD and let me say....if has not held up over time.

well..the 2nd ewok movie is a sequel of the first one..so those aren't literally "stand-alone" films anymore. maybe that's the reason they chose that word instead spinoff :D

Both Ewok movies were released theatrically in Europe to some extent.

OG Star Wars was a one off too. There was no trilogy until sequels were commissioned and he bullshitted that he had it planned.

The shitty Ewok movies were made for TV. The whole purpose of the thread is kind of moot. Plus, they suck major balls, even for a kids movie. I was in love with Star Wars in the early 80's and even I couldn't take these flaming poop bags.
