He has some players which are very long down in Milwaukee and everyone knows that being long improves your D.

Probably drilled defense the entire training camp. Lebeta admitted Spo did the same thing in his first heat year. They didnt even touch a basketball during practice

More of a leash by the front office to go after trades maybe, some great basketball minds hamstrung by shitty front office and ownership.

Jason Kidd is the greatest defensive PG of all time. (you can have payton if you want, but Kidd made the bigger impact) It's not surprising that he would be stressing defense first and foremost. You should also remember they were 12th in 12-13 (and that was with Jennings and Ellis who didn't play any defense) when Larry Sanders was relatively healthy, had his best season, and was by far their most impactful defensive player. He only played 27 games last season.

Team is pretty burned out right now but overall they've played with insane effort/intensity this year. Scrambling defense. Which is even nastier when you have a 6'8" SG, 6'6" PG, near 7 foot SF, etc..all of whom are young and athletic. And all the guys who aren't long or athletic are compensating for it by effort and smart decision making. The defense has made a 20-25 win team in terms of talent play up to 40-45 wins.

Kidd should be COY. Atlanta won 38 games last year and should've been around 45-48 with Horford.. Teague/Korver/Carroll/Millsap/Horford is an incredibly underrated starting 5 in terms of talent..their 4 all-stars might be weaker all-star selections...but having 4 guys even in that AS conversation is ridiculous. Bud has taken a middle of the pack playoff team (last year's Hawks w/ Horford) and put them at the top of the conference. Kidd has taken the worst team in basketball and put them in the playoffs, turned the worst defense in the league into the 2nd best. And that's with a ton of injuries.
