Say LeBron James was drafted in place of Michael Jordan by Chicago in 1984. How many rings do the Bulls win?

Don't know if LeBron could help develop Pippen in the same way because LeBron is like an upgrade of Pippen so we got to take account who plays the off guard position for them.

same fate as Jordan...the Celtics and Pistons were too much of a better team in the East for MJ/Lebron/(insert whoever) to beat those years.
however in the 87 draft, i think they go after a SG (Reggie Miller) rather than Pippen to compliment Lebrons drive and dish style. Lebron and Reggie would be a pretty deadly combo

Great question. I may be wrong, but I don't think this topic has ever been discussed before. I'll have to give this one a lot of thought.

Depends on who they draft to build around Lebron. Do they go with the same draft picks? Or do they go for Reggie Miller or Kevin Johnson I think is also in the same draft instead of Pippen?

The NBA's new player-tracking data (http://stats.nba.com/tracking/#!/player/possessions/?sort=TOP&dir=1) shows that Lebron and Harden are the only wings in the entire league that dominate the ball as much as point guards.
This makes Lebron's game ill-suited for the triangle - unlike today's dribble-initiation offenses that use screen rolls to set up drive-and-kicks, the triangle was a pass-initiation offense (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_offense#Strategy) that didn't permit any player to utilize point-guard levels of ball-domination.
GOAT production was needed in an off-ball, post, and mid-range form for that offense to generate 11 rings.. Anything other than that would generate much less rings, or none, and a point-guard style player would almost certainly be the latter (actually, there's a more likely option still for Lebron - bolting).

Being dead serious, Lebron wins 8 in a row from 91-98. The era was super weak, and Lebron wouldn't quit for 2 years. :confusedshrug:

Lebron went 7 games vs. garbage-ass Hibbert and George - but you think he would somehow beat Shaq and Penny?

it wasn't weak, but as the 80s and 90s panel said in the linked i posted, lebron would be even better. he would get to handcheck, develop already an elite midrange game he has in his arsenal, and get to use his unparalleled combination of strength, speed, size and quickness at full maximum potential.
like barkley said - lebron is basically a bigger, stronger, faster version of michael jordan. its simply not out of the question, lebron would also win a handful of titles and be marketed to a degree in which only your GOOD games were shown.

Only Charles Barkley speaks in this video, not Kerr or Smith...
Charles calls Lebron a "freak of nature"... but it was before his 2014 Finals debacle, so i'm sure he doesn't speak so highly of Lebron now... also, "freak of nature" is the same thing he said about Shaq.
Lebron is a lot like Shaq - his ability depends mostly on his size/athleticism, so he loses to smart teams because his skill and acumen deficit leaves him exploitable.
Shaq had the most stacked teams he's ever had in 1997 and 1998, but he got destroyed by a smart, experienced Utah team... and Lebron lost to the Spurs and Mavs, who were also, smart, experienced teams.

maybe 1-2. lebron wouldn't do well next to two traditional bigs like grant/cartwright or rodman/longley/wellington, especially when they're paired with a mediocre shooter like pippen. this is because lebron is a pedestrian mid-range player and shooter, and needs a stretch four/elite shooters to space the floor for him. this is why bosh and love turned into spot-up shooters next to him. jordan's ability to dominate with congested floors (relatively speaking) was incredible.
also, he's nowhere near the off-ball player or perimeter shooter that jordan was, which means he his game wouldn't fit the triangle anywhere as well jordan's did.
finally, the hand-checking rules would make it harder on him.
so yeah, maybe 1-2. tops.

They were also all, ironically, slow methodical, half court style teams to boot.

2/6 sounds about right. Is MJ twice the player bran is? No. He is 3 times the player.
And I hate MJ, so fck him.

0. First pippen and bran are redundant so pippen will just be another role player. Then they are missing the most important asset in every championship team-tough shot scorer.

lebron is more like a upgrade version of Dominique wilkins due to today advance training and nutrition. If lebron plays in 80s and 90s, he is equivalent with dominique wilkins at his best.
