View Full Version : Why Doesn't Anybody Talk About How Good George Hill Is?

Granted, the guy's been injured, but he's been healthy since the start of the year and he's averaging 15/4/5 in 26 MPG, with solid shooting numbers on one of the slowest, most offensively challenged teams in the league.

His Offensive Box Plus/Minus (OBPM) is 8th in the entire league, and his RPM is 10th for Point Guards.

Pacers are outscoring their opponents by 10 points with him on the floor and are being outscored by 2 with him off it.

The guy is still a very, very good player; he's the motor of a Playoff team (currently the 7th seed in what is admittedly the piss poor East).

Miss you, George. :applause:

By the time Hill started playing this season, the Pacers were completely irrelevant, so it makes sense they got no love.

In a league full of great PG's, who's going to waste time talking about a guy who averages 15/4 on a crappy team and will get lambasted by Jeff Teague or Kyrie Irving in a first round sweep?

Even though the tangible evidence -- which includes team performance with him (an elite team) vs. without him -- points to him being a great Point Guard?

15/4 on a team as slow as the Pacers is not a normal 15/4 (just as Duncan's prime 22/12 was not a normal 22/12). Hill's impact goes far beyond the raw stats, as I pointed out in the OP.

You did explain why nobody cares about his play, but don't imply that it's deserved.

If you think this good 20 game stretch means George Hill is 'elite' or that he makes the Pacers 'elite' then you must not have seen the rest of his career.

It's been a good stretch, the best of his career probably, but we've seen enough of the guy that we know pretty much exactly what sort of player he is.

You could make the argument that he's still the Spurs' best player.

Always thought Hill would be an excellent punch off the bench. He's the ideal backup point guard for any competing team.

George Hill is a decent starting point guard who starts every year with higher expectations.

Maybe his nice run after injury is him finally seeing that come to fruition, or maybe it's just a good run.

He isn't that good. Relative to his position, he's actually below average.

He's good again? I remember the first year they played the Heat, he was a very good young player, and I thought he would be the difference-maker that would eventually get them past Miami.

Then it was like he sucked for two years.

I do. I kept telling everyone when he was allowed to just focus on scoring and not being a "distributor", he would play much better..He's a scorer first, in a PG's body...

He's a good shooter, a good defender, has a high IQ, always makes the right play for the most part...Reliable ft shooter and is pretty good in the clutch. He's an underrated pick and roll player. I'd prefer he and West to run pick and roll pretty much every time because West will either get a wide open jump shot or Hill will get a shot or create one for someone else when the defense rotates..

I don't know the exact record but they're something like 18-8 with him in the lineup and he hasn't even been fully health all the time when he has played..

If you haven't watched more than 2 pacers games since the break then you probably shouldn't talk shit about Hill.

(I have not seen two pacers games in months)

John Wall had a pretty pissy showing against him, matter of fact he played absolutely horrible so lets not act like just because he's struggled against Teague or Irving(I mean, who doesn't) that he's some sh*tty defender because he's FAR from that. He's a very good defender and excellent at times.

And also some of the other comments from others lets me know, they don't watch Hill or the Pacers because if they did, they would know he's not a true PG. He's a SG who happens to play PG but would be better as a combo guard depending on matchups exactly like he's been doing this year. This is the first year of his entire career where he's been used a bit more how he should be. He's played a lot with Stuckey on the court or Watson on the court with him so he can play off-ball...

Wasn't the narrative the last couple seasons that Hill is the one holding the Pacers back?

Yeah, from people who don't actually watch them.....I always said, sure I'd love a top 5 PG on the roster, who wouldn't. But not at the expense of Hill. I'm glad that we didn't trade him for Ty Lawson, not because I don't like Lawson but because I like Hill enough.......

Nobody talks about him simply because theres not enough Pacer fans in this board
