I spend a lot of time in Asia, and for the most parts Asians are hospitable and don't f*ck with you.

As far as being racist, I think it is a bit twisted because most Asians don't adopt American PC BS. They call a spade a spade, that is kind of their approach to life, study hard-get a good job-make money, they don't coddle and baby their kids (except when they are preschoolers and toddlers, they let them run wild then), and don't fuss with a lot of BS (which is largely what being PC is). They also don't preach the kumbaya-everyone-is-a-star-in-the-making shit that has made millennials the most Fd up generation since the Baby Boomers.

They don't like being insulted because they never grew up in a 'piss take' environment (think East Coast style shitting on your buddies) and have the concept of face ingrained in them forcing them to go HAM when someone calls them out.

All of this is 'in general', plenty of exceptions to the rules.

As far as Asian's being rude, Chinese tourists are the foulest people on the planet as far as being ill-mannered (youtube is full of this), while most other Asians (minus Koreans) are pretty respectful abroad.

Chinese and Koreans are always the first to scream racism and seek out the company of their own kind while abroad. For example, when exchange students hang out, the Japanese and SE Asians will often hang out with the larger groups (Latin kids, Euros, Africans etc.) while the Chinese and Koreans are more anti-social, thinking everyone else is against them when in reality they aren't making the effort everyone else is to fit in.

As far as who hates who it looks like this:

China (everyone hates)
Japan (China, Korea hate)
Taiwan (Korea dislikes, Philippines dislikes)
Korea (Japan rudely dismisses, Taiwan dislikes)
Hong Kong (neutral)
Philippines (some parts of Malaysia dislikes)
Vietnam (Cambodia hates)
Laos (neutral)
Cambodia (Vietnam dislikes)
Thailand (Cambodia hates)
Myanmar (never been, have no feel for the place)
Malaysia (Thailand kind of dislikes their Muslims)
Singapore (Indonesia and Malaysia have some anger)
Indonesia (Singapore dislikes due to pollution)

Where are you from? You seem to know a lot about Asia :oldlol: I'm from Singapore actually. I think that our people are becoming increasingly xenophobic or "racist" because of the foreign influx policy which has resulted in almost half the population comprising of foreigners. We hate the Filipinos, Malaysians, the Chinese from PRC, and other South East Asian immigrants in general. Singaporeans generally like people who are well-mannered and able to adapt to our society, such as the Japanese and the Taiwanese.

I do agree with you about:

Chinese and Koreans are always the first to scream racism and seek out the company of their own kind while abroad. Most of the Chinese and Koreans studying here are antisocial and unwilling to adapt and open up to the locals.

Yeah, I have been to Singapore 5 times but for only a total of about 2 weeks. Singaporeans think they are the Switzerland of Asia, but I am white and generally presentable so I do not get any trouble. There is a snobbish arrogance in Singapore, but it is a really well run place (if not a bit too anti-septic). I agree, about Taiwan and Japan with how they relate to S'pore. Similar customs, and they like the same food and shopping etc.

I wasn't sure of the relationship with Malaysia and Singapore, I thought it was more codependent than hate, but you'd know better.

As for Indonesia and The Philippines it is hard to hate them because most people in TW, HK and S'pore's only interaction with them is with the ones they hire as domestic servants. There is an air of superiority however.

The hate for Chinese people from China in other ethnic Chinese countries (Taiwan, HK, Singapore) is really strong and growing every day. I am convinced the whole HK protests, and the ones before in Taiwan were about democracy as much as they were how much the people in those two countries loathed the thought of being under China's thumb, a country with people who they see as inferior to them.

I know a lot of Asians at my school, and the only thing they have in common is they all hate Japan. Especially Chinese people. Creepy super nationalist hate for Japan.

How is it creepy? Japan did commit vulgar acts against China during the war - this was not too long ago and those family stories are still told today.

JGXEN

Jtotheizzo,

Laos not neutral. They absolutely hate Thailand, even more than Cambodians. Thailand has taken land and culture from both Lao people and Khmers, so there's legit history behind the hate.

And Vietnam and Cambodia no hate, more of a friendly rivalry Like US-Canada. I mean Khmer Rouge was based off the Vietnamese communist party. And both were victims of French colonialism.

Another reason for Thailand being hated is that they've never defend against Westerners colonialism and WWII Japan. While their neighborhooding nations fell victims.
The Thais suffered the least amongst all South East Asian countries simply because they did not resist Japanese occupation. The one thing that the Japanese Imperial Army hated was resistance. The Chinese (excluding ROC aka Taiwan) bore the brunt of Japanese atrocities because of their struggle and resistance against the Japanese which impeded their quest to dominate the entire continent of Asia. If I recall correctly, the Thais actually aided the Japanese in their invasion of other countries in the region such as allowing them to build the Burma Railway or notoriously known as the death railway.

But the younger generation of Asians with the exception of a couple of countries such as China and Korea generally no longer harbour disdain and hate towards the Japanese any longer because we weren't personally affected by the war.

I get what you were saying, but the wording is a little awkward. Taiwan was under Japanese occupation between 1895-1945 so obviously they didn't really feel the atrocities of the war. ROC though, was the main force combating the Japanese. So in this context you shouldn't refer to occupied Taiwan as ROC Taiwan.

The PRC letting the ROC do the heavy lifting against Japan while the PRC sat back and mostly enjoyed watching the nationalists (and the Chinese citizens) get battered by the Japanese invaders is one of the main reasons the PRC prevailed in mainland China after the war with Japan ended.

Like any other race, old FOB Asians will be biased towards a race based on what they see and read in the media. but if they know a person individually, none of that prejudiceness exist. my mom's best friends are a white lady and a Haitian lady.
They are more blunt, even if they re being subtle, about their racism/classification compared to other races.

My Korean friend once wanted to see the inside of my home before we headed out to a party. I let him in and my mom was so welcoming, specificly offering him the store bought kim chi we had in the fridge.

Taiwan's initial infrastructure was largely built by the Japanese and in many ways Japan used Taiwan as a 'model colony'. The Japanese built many of the still in use public buildings, including the presidential office, they built the railways and many of the early large public works projects. Many older Taiwanese and those who have passed had fond memories of the occupation as it was led to an advancement in their country.

When the defeated ROC people came over from China, they continued to build up Taiwan but rather sloppily and hastily with the aim of returning and reconquering the Mainland. Obviously that never happened and Taiwan finds itself again in the process of beautifying the ugly infrastructure and buildings built by the KMT. Taiwan has made huge steps in the last decade making their cities 1st world and citizen friendly.

thats not true at all. the only people koreans really dislike, along with most major azn countries is Japan, and its mostly anyone of old generation because of Japanese occupation and slavery of them during their lives.. so u can hardly blame them. if anyone had to go thru the shit they did they'd be at least a little bit racist against whoever did that kind of shit to them like take away their food, prostitute their women, etc.

they get along fine with chinese, vietnamese, cambodians, etc. its just the japanese they tend to dislike, and like i said its mostly older generation unless their kids are bitter over what their parents went thru on account of Japan. koreans are integrated very closely with chinese in entertainment especially.

i will say korea tends to put koreans first but a lot of countries are that way. they also have a fascination or rather envy of America, but again a lot of countries are that way as well. America is the hub of entertainment around the world. they watch our movies, tv, music, etc. it has a huge impact on their culture.

its also mostly governments people hate, not so much the people. like even Hong Kong hates the chinese government.

i don't know much about the SE asian countries tho.

i think all FOB azns are timid of Americans unless u happen to be roomed with them, or go out of your way to befriend them, good luck getting them to make the first move at you. Americans are considered way more forward than most people around the world, especially sexually.

As someone who lives in Korea....i can safely say that Koreans really dislike Japan (the country) and China (the country). However, it is all just "hate" on a conversational level as they allow rich Chinese people to buy up half of their Hawaii (Jeju Island) and they allow the major brands from Japan to dominate in their clothing and retail sectors. Money >> past hurt feelings.

Also, they like Americans for the most part but love themselves way more. Also, they are still fairly racist toward non-white foreigners (it's improving).

And yeah, the PC stuff is true, but only for the older generation. They say wjatever they are thinking. Nowadays, the kids growing up (under 20) are all very PC too, just like in America. That is what education + internet will do to people. Make em scared to say stuff since they don't want to be judged forever by it.

I can't speak about the topic as I'm not asian but it seems like the Asian immigrants in the US are much more successful and wealthy than other minorities/immigrants in the US like Blacks or Latinos. Asian immigrants may look down upon them as they don't play the victim or race card than others in the US may do. They probably see a black on TV complain about institutional racism or how cops are out to get them but they themselves could have escaped genocide and made it in the US with nothing but the clothes on their backs...

They belong to the continent of Asia, but no one in other Asian countries like them such as the PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore. In anyways they pride themselves as descendants of European settlers (the Spanish iirc) and the natives, so they think that they are superior to other Asians. If not for US playing big brother to the Philippines, that country would have ceased to exist today

Most of the young people will grow up hating all the other asian countries and people as well.... Crazy dynamic between the Chinese, Koreans, Japanese. They all hate each other... The most hated is the Japanese for past atrocities. The Japanese hate the Chinese the most. But yes the CASH rules all 3 countries. Where ever they can make money off each other the hatred subsides. Funniest thing between the 3 they think Koreans are best looking.....

From my experience the asian countries pick up news stories of all the evils of black people and just assume all are like that. Xenophobic societies. Makes them racist in that way but its mostly ignorance. But funny enough they should hate white people more from Britain and America they have done all those countries wrong.

There are social norms in asian countries that are different from other countries which makes them seem like they are rude or discourteous. For example: I never say God bless you anymore when people sneeze. Its quite freeing because the asian countries I stayed obviously do not do it.

considering Japan basically took over their countries and made them slaves while prostituting their women for their military, why should they hate the west more? :wtf:

considering they fight over territory, are bigger threats to each other as neighbors, and have a longer past history of war amongst themselves that have shaped what they are today thats silly.

if it weren't for the American presence in SKorea the North may have already tried to take them over. if it weren't for America's insistence of freedom of speech against a imperialistic chinese government maybe they'd have no voice at all today or nobody would knnow about Tiannemen square.

the chinese hate the Brits for their occupation of China as well but its nowhere near as bad as with japan.

koreans ARE the best looking azn's. obviously each persons tastes are different but you can't argue with their sex symbols in entertainment are known and followed throughout asia, and not so much vice versa's. so that generalization at least has something to back it up, not just one persons opinion.

and EVERYONE generalizes groups, its just about to what degree in relation to what they've seen throughout their life experiences. generalizations exist because there are consistencies amongst categories of people. it makes me laugh how people still pretend to deny the realities of the world we live in where everyone is not the same.

I don't get your 200 years ago point. That's what is known as Asia now. Of course you can specify further if you are inclined, there's 4,5 billion people in Asia so it's probably better to specify a little more. But that doesn't change the definition and map of Asia.
