2001 Chevrolet truck. 109,800 miles for 3500 cash. Car is hooked up. Automatic engine. Screens. Nice inside and out. Just put new wheels on it. He's only selling because his wife bought him a new truck for his birthday.

Should I buy?

If I buy, I'll sell my other car. No need for three rides. 1996 Oldsmobile. It's my first vehicle so kind of sentimental value. How much could I get for it. It only has just over 80,000 miles and rides smooth.

Seems like a good deal for a clean truck especially with gas prices historically still low. But too many variables left out. Full size? If so, 1500,2500,3500? Diesel or gas? Single cab, extended, crew cab? 2wd or 4x4?

DEFINITELY get a CarFax(or similar) report before purchase.

Not too bad a deal. Would have been better at $350, lol.

Lol. If it was 350 I would have bought it when I looked at it yesterday.

Nobody ever listens to this advice but if I didn't know anything about vehicles, I'd also pay a mechanic a couple of hundred bucks to check it out. Or at least go to AutoZone and rent a code reader to see if the truck is shooting any fault codes.

I bought a 2010 Ford F350 crew cab diesel 4x4 online, sight unseen, that was located 1200 miles away but I paid a local mechanic $300 to check it out. Worth every penny.

The car is up to date. As what he told me. He just had it checked and his wife up and buys him a brand new truck a few weeks ago for his birthday. It's my parents neighbor. Older gentleman. I no nothing about trucks but it's pretty big also.

Buy a hilux 22re, you can put a new engine in it for 1500 and call it brand new.

The last year they put a 22re in Toyota trucks here in the US was 95 I think and the last year Toyota made compact trucks was 2004. But those smaller Toyotas are getting harder to find and expensive for their age. They are favored by off roaders here because of their smaller size, reliability, simplicity, and lots of cheap aftermarket parts.

Yeah, the latter is the best reason to get one. The price stays high because they are reliable and the resale value doesn't change anymore. They're forever going to be in that 2 to 4k range

If you're not using the truck for it's purpose most of the time (which is to haul), it's not worth buying unless you just have an abundance of money.

I see so many dumb ****s just buy trucks just because they like trucks and no other reason, even though they rarely ever use the bed or haul anything with it.

In any case, just expect to pay more in repairs, gas, tires, all of that eventually unless you flip it within a year or two.

I can use the truck to load my music equipment. Multiple speakers, amps, ect. I would usually just borrow my parents SUV to do so.

Definitely recommend considering this advice. It'll only take a mechanic 30 mins and you'll find out immediately about any immediate concerns.

well you want it to be thorough ? .. 300 may sound a little high but for a full check up it sounds ok considering what mechanics usually charge for repairs and such .. and the saying you get what you pay for holds true .. start skimping out and he may not be as enthusiastic checking out your car

I never understood why people don't just lease a new generation car instead of buying a 15 year old car? For $150 a month to $200 a month, you could lease any new 2015-16 car. However, if your credit is not worthy enough, I understand why. That's my advice - look into leasing a new car. I know many people that have leased cars for the past decade or so. Even though it's never truly your car, you always get to rid in the newest models.

In literally one paragraph you state you don't understand why, then say you understand why. :oldlol:
