This article is kinda dumb but Elf does have a case.

Mirotic has ROY on lock.

This is what the top 3 will look like
Wiggens
Noel
Mirotic

Payton would finish fourth. I think Noel should finish 2nd but Mirotic could possibly get enough votes for 2nd. If Jabari didn't get hurt I think he could've gotten ROY or atleast 2nd.

No. It's
Wiggins
Noel
Payton

Mirotic is 24. 3 years older than the oldest ROY candidate

Numbers don't lie...he does have a case.

But ROY was earmarked for Wiggins before the season even started...

Marcus Smart has a better chance than Payton.

If only Orlando had the opportunity to draft him...

Long shot case, but just not going to happen.

It doesn't matter if he's 24, 18, 29, 22. He's still a rookie, therefore, eligible for ROY and deserves the third slot, if not second.

So what you dumb fuсk? Prigioni was a rookie at 35 years of age.

That's definitely true now that so many early RoY candidates have gone down injured...but Jabari Parker was favored to take the award over Wiggins at the start of the season.

As soon as Jabari got injured Wiggins became a lock.

payton s a nice player and the magic have some solid young talent, so i'm not sure why they don't have a better record. Feel like they should be closer to competing for a playoff spot in the east.

I REALLY like Payton. Dude is long and plays some great D. Pass first player. Reminds me a LOT of Kidd.

If he improves that shot, it is OVER for the league.

Age has nothing to do with rookies. Even if you are 40 years old if it's your first year you are considered a rookie and eligible for the award. Next you going to tell us Noel isn't a rookie he was drafted in 2013. Lmaooo keep trying to narrow down the list Payton will never be the best player out of the draft. Only thing Payton has is play making and decent defense. Your lucky players like Jabari Embiid and Randle went down with injuries because Payton wouldve finished at best 7th in ROY voting.

Paytons been great lately but I can't see him touching Mirotic for a better case, Nikola's been putting up some gaudy numbers lately with more touches and minutes on a much better team.

:oldlol:

Elfrid can't hit the broad side of a barn with his jumpshot yet and is STILL shooting 6% points better from the field than Smart.

Twice as many assists per game. It's not even close at this point.

The fg% disparity is probably accounted for the high number of 3's smart shoots.

Payton is a good defender for a rookie, he certainly is not on smart's level though.

Payton sucks.

Can't shoot, can't hit free throws, turns the ball over too much, too beta.

He doesn't even run the team offense. That's all on Daddy Dipo.

Yup, 60% of Smarts shots are 3s compared to Payton's 6%. As a result Smart has a 3.6% edge in eFG%

Who gives a shit? Smart shoots only 3s because he's not quick and has trouble consistently getting into the lane. Payton gets to the rim effortlessly.

And you're point is? Patrick Ewing was 23 when he won it. Elgin Baylor was 24 when he won it. David Robinson was 24 when he won it.

Grant it, those are all-time greats, but age doesn't mean anything for Rookie of the Year.

Are you trolling? Elf is the obviously better finisher if he has shot literally moer than 200 shots from the spot and has only a 2% worse rate. Stop.

I've got to watch Payton to see how he's getting his triple doubles. I can't believe in boxscore numbers anymore, he might be statpadding rebounds and assists like Rondo did in Boston.

he's passing to oladipo, vucevic, and harkless
while rondo was passing to pierce, garnett, and allen.
