View Full Version : LOL at the Pelicans Holiday trade
Holiday is just a generic dime a dozen pg. They should have Nerlens Noel instead. He has been a monster recently and will only get better. Imagine the defense with Noel playing with Davis.

Not taking sides here, but Noel is the only player in the league top 10 in steals and blocks, also improving at a rapid pace on the offensive end.

They shouldn't have signed Gordon and Reke either. Last season should have been a tank season. Then you might be looking at a Wiggins Davis Noel core.

Two twigs at the 4 and 5 would not have worked. Should the Pels have gotten a better offer, of course, but Noel and Davis are redundant.
Holiday hadn't been hurt at all until he came to NOLA. Holiday is a top 5 defensive pg and is just what the Pels need, he just came at too steep of a price.

Lopez is on a cheap contract and is a big body. Gave up chance to get Payton last year, or truly tank into getting a higher pick. Noel's a twig but he's been amazing on defense this year. This FO has done a poor job, likely hurt by ownership's unrealistic explanations. Not to mention if they don't sign Tyreke or trade for Jrue, they'd have had loads of cap space to take back unwanted salaries in trades or sign other, better players.
I also question if their medical staff is even average. Their guys seem to get hurt, a lot. Maybe just bad luck or confirmation bias on my part. I don't know.

If it weren't for Jrue being injured it would be a totally different story.
They needed a pg. They got a proven, relatively young, solid af point guard.
They should never have signed Eric Gordon, that was and continues to be their handcuff. Until he's gone N.O won't win big. Dump dat salary and move on.
