To build a franchise all from their 1st season? How do you not pick Kobe? He is more proven and we know he would have excellent longevity. Harden is 2nd, Westbook is last because his type of game won't age as well.

Kobe how is this even a question? Seriously, Kobe is second tier talent in NBA history and one of top 10 greatest players ever while Harden and Westbrook not even top 50 all time yet.

Let me explain: Tier 1: MJ, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Magic.

Tier 2: Kobe, Shaq, Bird, Duncan, Lebron, Hakeem, Oscar.

This is just my opinion of course I meet no disrespect towards Kobe he's my favorite sports athlete ever regardless of any sport I follow.

i feel you. I respect you as a poster, bro. It's just that when "tier 1" guys refer to Kobe as the greatest laker ever. Or when another tier one guy says that Kobe is the only person worth a comparison speaks volumes about Kobe's placement and contradicts what you're saying. That's all. No disrespect.

I myself feel Kobe is GOAT Laker for all he's done for franchise 19 years of mostly greatness from start to finish with amazing moments on top of so many accomplishments alone he surpassed Magic for me due to longevity.

Harden's playmaking is eons ahead of either player at age 25. What you see are free throws, three pointers, and layups, what I (and Rockets fans) see are low volume shots taken at a medium percentage that output a high number of points.

Prime Kobe = 7th seed in West
Prime Westbrook = 8th seed in West
Prime Harden = 2nd or 3rd seed in West

Winning tells the story. Harden's game = more wins. The Lakers and Thunder are too dependent on their star player shooting them into games, Harden can have a bad shooting game and his team walk away with the victory because he impacts the game outside of scoring more than prime Kobe and Westbrook did.

If Kobe had Harden's passing he'd be in the Top Five All-Time.

I think that's the moral of the thread
They are all similar in being the building block of a team

Kobe, Westbrook, and Harden are all similar in being the main guy on the team

Whereas with LeBron you have to compare him to peak Jordan and peak Shaq in being a franchise player.

Two different standards

Mr.Triple double Russell Westbrook

They're at par in scoring....but unlike the others....Westbrook is an elite passer, rebounder.

Btw Westbrook has had more triple doubles this season....then Harden in his entire career

Yeah it pretty clear is their prime, maybe not peak but prime for sure. Harden is 25 and Westbrook is 26. I don't know of any guards who have not hit their prime by that age except for maybe Nash who was an anomoly for when his best years came.

Wow is this disingenuous lol, and it's not even a concensus that Kobe peaked in 06 or 07. Many will argue 08, 09, 03 or even 01. So basically you nitpick and use Kobe's years when his supporting cast was at it's worst in order to advance your agenda. Its also disingenuous how you completely disregard the postseason in which Harden has been a disaster his last 3 seasons. Believe it or not Harden is not playing with scrubs.

Lol at using team records in a vaccum to decide who the better player is. By your logic Derek Fisher>Chris Paul as he's been on a 1st seed team and Paul has not.

Harden has better teammates (at his current peak) than peak Kobe. Let's look at the playoffs.

Per 100-

05-07 Kobe Bryant:

- 35.1 points/6.8 rebounds/5.7 assists/1.3 steals/0.5 blocks
- 48.0 FG%/50.9 2P%/38.1 3P%/83.5 FT%/57.5 TS%/30.9 USG%

2012-14 Harden:

- 32.3 points/6.9 rebounds/6.3 assists/2.4 steals/0.7 blocks
- 38.3 FG%/42.7 2P%/31.6 3P%/84.5 FT%/53.3 TS%/29.7 USG%

This.

Harden's playoff play (really what matters the most for players of this caliber) has been levels below prime Kobe.

This is a huge playoffs for Harden. He's coming off a terrible finals in 12 and then two good, but not great playoff performances the last 2 years. Another sub 55% TS and no defense playing first round exit would be a bad 4 year look for Harden.

Comparing him to prime/peak Kobe at this point is laughable until he proves his game when the games really count.

Completely agree, Harden must prove himself when it matters most in order to be in discussion with Kobe,Wade,Etc. He's been great during the regular season but playoffs is where legends are made.
