I think due to the fire being started by a religious myth about not starting fire (working) on the Sabbath causing the mother to leave a hot plate burning all night.

This is not the original story of the fire. It's a follow up on the funeral when the whole community turned out.

Also the fire seemed to start when a hotplate that was left on for the Sabbath malfunctioned. Orthodox Jews like this family cannot use a flame on the Sabbath.

when i was in 4th grade, 2 of my classmates that were twins died in an apartment fire. 3 other of their siblings and mom died aslo(the whole family besides dad). the apartment was right behind the elementary school too. it turns out that 2 18 year olds started the fire, they got caught and serving life in prison.
