View Full Version : Anybody else notice that Steph Curry never gets superstar calls?

He gets bodied going to the rim, people grab and hold him on the perimeter, and yet the refs are very reluctant to blow the whistle for whatever reason. I would be fine with this if I didn't see guys like Harden shooting 25 FT's a night.

Amazing how efficient he is without superstar treatment from the refs.

I have noticed. He gets hit as much as the other superstars except for maybe Westbrook, and he only shoots 4.4 FT per game

Further adding to the myth that he's only a jumpshooter

He is currently the best player in the league and will easily win the MVP

I think that qualifies as a superstar

He can't shoot without his precious ankles. But man can he shoot.

I honestly think it's only because he doesn't exaggerate contact as much as Harden and WB. Also, he doesn't need to risk his body when his team is destroying the opposition with ease.

Curry is not the best player in league and he won't "easily" win the mvp.

He actually did so about 2 seasons ago I think

Best player on the best team in the NBA. 23/8/4 on 48% shooting with good defense. Leading MVP candidate.

Deal with it.

Also forgot to mention he led the league in all star votes.

Obviously a superstar. It's not even up for debate.

To be fair, he doesn't attack the rim like Harden or Westbrook. Curry tends to worm and wiggle his away around the basket, avoiding contact with defenders.

The refs do let his defender get away with handchecking from time to time... but Curry also palms the shit out of the ball sometimes. :oldlol:

Anybody who can avg 23 points while also bird feeding a teammate his 20+ points is a superstar in my eyes :applause:

MVP and it's not close. Westbrook is a close 2nd doe.

And the Sixers suck bison dick.

And Curry has definitely hit Superstar status. Most All-Star votes, best player on best team, MVP candidate... and he has half a dozen corporate commercials in steady rotation.

Durant averaged 32/7/6 on 50% last year. Carried his team.

DAMN, big drop off in MVP candidates without him.

Well, how often does he drive compared to other stars?

How often does he go out of his way to avoid contact, as compared to other stars?

And good defense? No. A step up from his matador D, but still, far from good.

The only real superstars are Lebron and Durant, you know proven playoff monsters that can single handedly destroy elite teams on their own. Who even when their shot isn't falling can make an impact in other areas.

Curry isn't on their level, at least not yet. The only PG that sometimes gets to that tier is Westbrook when he is in the zone. But he isn't as consistent as Lebron/Durant.

From what I've seen, even when he attacks the basket, the vast majority of the time Curry goes with a finesse layup or finesse runner/floater. And of course he shoots a ton of jumpers. He just doesn't attack the basket with near the same amount of aggression of Westbrook or the "craftiness" of Harden (if that's what you want to call Harden's blatant attempts to not even make a layup while throwing his arms up and through defenders to draw bullshit fouls).

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve more FTs, but his game is, like, 98% finesse, which is one of the reasons he's so much fun to watch. But there's very little aggression in his attack/dribble penetration game.

He isn't a superstar based on one season where people are actually discussing him and his team... his numbers aren't eye popping either.

lol so why is durant a superstar? when he can't score he's useless.

agreed although I think Curry will get there this year, oh and you forgot Rondo but fair enough its been a few years since he had the opportunity to dominate teams but he will this year again and regain his superstar status.

This coming from the same guy that absolutely shit on Durant last post-season, pointing out multiple times how Durant just isn't LeBron caliber because he doesn't bring it consistently in the playoffs...

continue, please.

Curry doesn't get calls, but it's not like other superstars also get calls. Melo has been disrespected by the refs more and more. In addition Lebron doesn't get calls when there is a large amount of contact because of his strength and size.

The NBA is kind of weird with that. It does seem that Durant and Harden are playing a different game than Mello and Rose. Mello and Rose get players off balance and grabbing more than anybody since MJ and AI. And yeah, Curry doesn't get it either. Harden is the only guy with a lot of moves, that gets more calls then he should. Mello/Rose/Kyrie all get people off balance with their moves all the time, but don't get calls like other players.
