To back up Elfrid. This is basically just a "I called it" thread in a way but maybe some Magic fans can weigh in.

if they sign him to a reasonable deal I don't see anything wrong with that. I'd take him for 12 minute per game on the Wizards

I don't think op understands how the farming system works. You send players to us, not vice versa.
not a bad thing if they can get him for the right price... Lin's OK just not 14 million dollars a year OK
I wouldn't mind him back on the Lakers for 5-6 mill per year but I think he sees himself as a big contract kind of guy

Thing is Lin considers himself a star and won't be happy with a bench role. He's an asshole and will dog it if he's not a starter.

he only produces with the ball in his hands (much like Waiters), and even then he's not consistent enough to be that kind of a guy on a winning team...
weak dribble, not the fastest PG in the world, average jump shot
dude's overrated. even Mario Chalmers shut that dude down during his linsanity days

Not sure why they would, should sign a veteran guard to backup and mentor Elfrid.

if he learns to take a bench role he'll be productive enough.

Most PGs don't do much without the ball. Not exactly fair criticism.
His dribbles are weak...but he rarely gets stripped (inb4 gifs of Kawhi stripping him). Most of his TOs are off errant passes...but TOs are an overrated stat to begin with. Lakers and 76ers have some of the LEAST TOs in the NBA and look where they're at.
Lin is one of the fastest/quickest guys in the game so not sure where you think he's not fast. If he wasn't as fast as he was, he wouldn't be getting to the hoop like he does.
Overrated? Not anymore. If anything, he's underrated now. He just scored 29 points in 29 minutes, which is pretty damn good...and the entire ISH forum is like "whatever...he still sucks".
Chalmers didn't shut shit down. It was the Heat's suffocating defense back then that did. They made a point to shut him down and they did. Kudos to them, but he still went on to score double figure points in the next 12 out of 13 games.

I think all Magic fans would love Jameer back to mentor Elfrid and play backup PG. Has to give up his player option though. He may do it...

I don't know if you watch basketball at all but Lin's weak handles and suspect finishing was one of the biggest detriments to Houston in the playoffs. He played like a chicken with his head cut off and the results were terrible. He got stripped in one of the biggest plays in the game too which basically cost Houston the series. Even watching Lin vs. a PG like Elfrid Payton you can see how much poise and calmness that Payton runs the offense compared to Lin.

Yup. Exact play I was talking about. Just doesn't have the poise, the awareness of someone you want running the PG in the playoffs. It's not surprising his playoff #s are ASS.
