View Full Version : Would you beat out Terry Dischinger's roster spot in the 60's?

He's 6-7, weighed 208lbs, and he played both guard and forward a-la Havlicek/Tmac/Ginobli etc

He was a non-superstar white guy playing only part-time along side his military career. 13.8ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.8apg career stats.

Would you beat him out on a roster? Say, that Detroit Pistons roster? Don't just make a declaration, show us footage of yourself playing on a team so we can see how visibly/physically superior you are to a 6-7 208lb professional athlete from the 60's. You'd have to be able to drive and finish against players like Kareem, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, and you'd have to be able to defend 220lb guards like Oscar, to 260lb forwards like Luke Jackson, and not get embarrassed trying to dribble past the quick hands of Jerry West or Walt Frazier.

Easy enough?

Played pro ball in the 1930ies and 40ies so that's a hell no. I'm 5'2 and played PF and C btw.

If I tried out for a team they'd think I have decent measurments, according to draftexpress Im nearly identical to Isiah Thomas on the Celtics. My style would somewhat fit in, but unfortunately I don't have stamina, hops, and I'm like you in the sense I'm not practiced/fluid with anything but hooks and bank shots. I'd hustle, but they would embarrass the crap out of me. And my ego would never be the same again

My only hope at making the NBA would be Harvey Pollacks assistant

Who?
Precisely, a forgotten name "white guy" from the 60's.

The ISH formula is to assume he was terrible and dismissable.

And this is why your channel rocks. It truly feels like an Archive now, great job man. Are subscribers still fleeing or has that stopped?

The fleeing has not stopped, but I'm also getting new subscribers. I was in the negative in growth a few weeks ago but now that's reversed and it's growing again slowly but the growth is still pretty slow compared to before I started breaking down my "full games".

I used be like +10 to +15 a day, now I'm like +1 to +3.

Like I said I think the docu-highlight/Wilt fans are typically an entirely different (and much larger) group of people than the people that care to see game highlights of Dave Bing, Satch Sanders, and Rudy LaRusso, etc.

Would I be able to? No, i'm 4 inches shorter than him.

But since it's another agenda thread for you...

All I saw in those highlights was a scrawny, string bean of a white guy making open lay-ups and getting blocked, every contested shot, by guys jumping 2 inches off the ground. Compare him to let's say, Wilson Chandler 6'8" 225, averaging 13.7, 6, and 1.6 this year.

Use your eye test and tell me which one is clearly the better player. As i said, I would not replace ole Terry there on a team, but put me on a team against Terry then against Wilson Chandler with all other parts being equal... I play infinitely better against Terry Dischinger.

Good for you man, glad to see the content matters more than subs. A lot of people don't have the time to watch an entire game, so being able to zero in on players like this is great.

How many more game do you expect to upload like this?

https://youtu.be/i3UrnXXKKvQ

Quality isn't as good as you'd probably like but its another game that'd be good for it IMO

It's a shame they don't have these 50s all star games fully uploaded...Someone like you would do the highlight more justice....The music is rediculous lol

At present I don't want to do game fragments, even if a game has only 2 or 3 minutes missing, because it means I'll be missing stats. The Royals game is only a half.
