Just a very talented player.
Why is the stepback not a travel? Is it in the rulebook?

Why is the stepback not a travel? Is it in the rulebook? It was actually a travel, his two steps after the spin were the only ones allowed by his dribble. If he dribbled while stepping back, it would've been legal.

I honestly don't understand how you can be this skilled, this gifted offensively and consistently fail in the playoffs. Not trolling, I just don't get it. Dude looks so confident here, so explosive/fluid in that move, slices up what is otherwise very good defense...then he gets to the playoffs and straight up looks LOST. It's like he forgets all of his moves the second the playoffs start, and has to scramble to re-learn his game on the fly.

Defense was supurb....the reality was he did all this fancy sh!t for no reason, coulda just stepped back with the same result but no he needs to please his fanboys who are all flash and no substance.
I really don't enjoy hardens game, I guess hes an okay player tho.

Sounds like leBRONZE, but leBRONZE fumbles in regular season games too

I disagree. The fancy shit puts him into a rhythm and that's what make the stepback work.

On a move like that, defense may as well not be out there.

Because playoff teams know that if you triple team Harden, the rest of the Rockets aren't going to beat you.

No, it wasn't.
After his last dribble, he planted with his left foot and stepped back into a shot, off both feet.
That is not a travel. The two feet at the end counts as one when they land at the same time.
That's why the hop step was so cool for about 2 years.

for some reason people always think its a travel
i think its because hes a lefty so it looks kinda funky

I think its because people dont know that when you shoot off two feet, it's not counted as two steps.

It's not a travel because he dribbled the ball while spinning. He gathered the ball on both hands when he did the step back. Legit move. Oh and I hate harden.

he doesnt shoot a great percentage and relies on the ref. you cant always rely on your low percentage shooting, and you cant always rely on the refs to bail you out. so his game revolves around two unreliable sources. come playoff time, it gets exposed. defenses get tighter. refs dont give out as many light calls.

How can you not like James Harden?

Is James Harden the best ballhandler in the NBA outside of point guards?
There are some point guards with better ballhandling skills… But I can't think of a single non-point guard that does.
What other non PG's have better handles?

Jamal Crawford? Unless you count him as a PG.
I consider him a shooting guard.
But either way, I believe James Harden probably has better handles between the two players.
