View Full Version : Am I the only one who doesn't buy into the Warriors championship hype

I love Steph and Klay.
Idk why but I just get the feeling they're the new age Kings, Mavs, Cavs or Suns. Great regular season team but I think they'll fall flat on their faces in the playoffs.

You are the only one my friend.

It's not only about Klay & Steph. They can defend and score the basketball with ease, as a team.

Only team that can beat them in the West is Spurs. Grizzlies could possibly do it but it is highly unlikely. Warriors have lost 2 games at home all season and have the best home court advantage in basketball. I don't see giving any team positive odds vs the warriors while they have home court advantage.

They have elite offense and defense. Never has such a combination not been dominate.

The only problem they have is that im not sure I trust anyone outside of Curry consistently. But they have such a great defense that it doesnt even matter. Eventually the 3 ball will overwhelm teams and there is nothing you can do about it.

If Durant comes back healthy somehow, you guys probably wont see the second round.

Shit, I honestly think Westbrook and Ibaka could take you guys 7.

Pulling a complete 180 from earlier in the season, but I honestly think Cleveland might win it all. They have way too much firepower, and their defense is inconsistent but I have no doubts they'll bring the intensity come playoff time. They're just too talented, too balanced, and the chemistry is coming along. The only team I think stands a chance against them would be SA at 100%, OKC at 100% with healthy Durant, or Warriors playing at the top of their capabilities consistently. And I don't think any of the 3 is gonna happen.

I wouldn't bet on it but I wouldn't be surprised.

Kyrie Love are playoff questions marks
Blatt is blahh
Mosgov is the shit
Jr smith is a loose cannon, who knows how he'll perform

But they have Bron Bron, but lets see how he does in the finals with that Cleveland and 23 on the front of his jersey.

Good point. Hard to believe in the Cavs when they have a guy who chokes in almost every championship series he's ever been in.... including his junior year in high school when he lost the state championship to an ALL WHITE team.

Im just keeping it real, i've seen a lot of teams look fantastic in the regular season.

but the playoffs is another animal. And Westbrook is the most savage one

If OKC can get a good series out of Waiters you really shouldn't be surprised if OKC wins that series.

What do people not get about this?

I feel like people don't trust the warriors because their star is seen as "fragile" and "weak" at a subconscious level.

These warriors are dominant on BOTH ends of the floor. That's the difference between them and the other teams OP mentioned.

This isnt a new team like Cleveland though. Although they have a rookie coach.

The warriors have been to the playoffs before and have had the same core for years now.

But like I said, I honestly dont trust anyone except Curry offensively. Klay as well I guess. Everyone else can be stopped by a good defensive team. Or hell a smart defensive coach can shut them out. Kinda like the Mavs did to the Spurs last year as the Spurs arent offensively talented individually, but you need a system in place to stop them.

But the thing is that Warriors are so good defensively they can stop anyone as well.

If the Cavs had better defense, I would take them over the Warriors. If the Grizzlies had better offense I'd take them over the warriors. The Spurs have the best combination, but their bench which they relied upon is not reliable anymore. We'll see.

The Thunder of course dont have Durant. And they dont have good defense this year either. So they probably still wouldnt beat the Warriors.

Sucks for you that one of those series happened to be the 2012 Finals

Lot's of pressure on Green to bury his 3's. To be honest his 3 point shot can be inconsistent at times. There are plenty of nights where his 3 pointer is just not there. But he is definitely streaky. He also tends to step up in big situations. He had an impressive series vs the Clippers last post season. Bogut injured his ribs last game of the season and all of a sudden Draymond was thrust into a starting role and he stepped up, and he hasn't stepped down yet.

The hilarious part about this is you just ethered yourself. The reason that Dallas team lost was because of the GOAT homecourt advantage of Oracle arena. Imagine that home court advantage when they already have the best team in basketball?

Good point. Hard to believe in the Cavs when they have a guy who chokes in almost every championship series he's ever been in.... including his junior year in high school when he lost the state championship to an ALL WHITE team.Rofl at this. Talking about HS games? Choked in 2011 Finals and let a series vs. Boston slip away when that Cavs team had little offensive consistency that series, not just LBJ throwing up bricks. 2007 and 2014 teams had little chance to win either Finals.

I can understand if people have trouble thinking GSW can take out a team like Memphis in the playoffs. Z-Bo is getting old, but he can still abuse Draymond in the post. Bogut needs to play well to protect rim and slow down Marc Gasol. Grizzlies now have a frisky bench that can better match super small ball lineups if GSW put Draymond at C (Jeff Green at PF). Memphis also has more experience with their coach in the playoffs, considering he was an assistant when Hollins ran the show. Kerr's a rookie coach but Gentry & Adams have years of playoff experience in different roles.

Dubs are for real this season though. Elite offensively and defensively, and get buckets inside via drives and cuts. No, they don't have a reliable post up option and that can pose an issue if another team plays perimeter very tightly. I think Curry gets his regardless and Klay may have a subpar series if matchups are bad. I do think it can be wise to wait to see this team win a series or two before crowning them champs, but they will be such a tough out imo.

as others have said, a list of all the concerns :

- no consistent post scoring
- no historically dominant playoffs scorer (durant, kobe, lebron, duncan, pierce, etc)
- no relevant leadership, intangibles and experience (lebron, kobe+phil, duncan+pop, big3 celtics, dirk+carlisle etc)

These things matter alot in the PO game and teams will test the warriors, who are a GREAT RS team, but these things almost guarantee they not getting out of the west. The closest teams to the warriors actual situation were detroit (decent O, won vs a divided laker team + weak east, sheed low post scoring, GOAT D), and a young okc (westbrook-harden-durant on the same team, going against old slow teams-la,spurs,mavs- in the west) that got beaten handily in the finals.

Other than my Bulls winning, I'd love for the GSWs to win it all but I'm sceptical as to how they'll perform in the playoffs as they've never had the added pressure of being favorites. Hopefully they get it done but I don't think they get past the Spurs.

I think the lack of experience from the players and the coach is going to be a problem too
And OKC is so experienced?

It will be Curry's 3rd playoffs as the man.
Kerr played in the playoffs before. And won with Michael Jordan. I think he knows what it takes for his team to win.

the lack of experience excuse is bullshit.
