Their popularity, let alone existence, would make Stanley Kubrick leave the business if he were alive today.

I like a mix between popcorn flicks and more serious cinema.

They've basically just taken the place of the action hero movies of the 90s.

If by "comic book movies" you mean "Adam Sandler movies" then I agree

And what's Jean Claude Van Damme supposed to do now, huh? You think he LIKES going straight to DVD?

I don't like them but I don't mind them, I think their popularity is a bit crazy though, but there isnt a movie quota per year so don't worry, their existance won't stop good movies from being made, just ignore them, I doubt kubrick would give a damn about them, if anything I could see him directing something like watchmen or v for vendetta

Big action movies have been around since the 80s. Kubrick seemed to be OK with it.

Not with the massive popularity and funding that they have today, relatively speaking.

A lot of them lack originality.. Too many ride the curtails of earlier productions

Guardians Of The Galaxy was a fresh hit. It was like superhero meets Star Wars, and it had a fun vibe. The soundtrack was gold.

Spiderman 2 was a classic. Unique, original.

The Batman trilogy was GOAT level stuff. Nolan changed the game. So many movies have tried to copy it.

Iron man 1 was good. Fell off a cliff from there. Downey Jr wit and humor can only get you so far.

Yeah you're right. Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Rocky, Batman, Top Gun, etc. weren't big hits.

Dumbass.

I agree. They are getting recycled so much it's ridiculous.

Comparing Star Wars, Rocky and Top Gun to today's super hero movies is idiotic.

So is saying Kubrick wouldn't direct because others make different genres of movies popular.

Why? Because of all that "things were better back in my day" BS?

2000-present is far stronger than the 80s in terms of film and television.

There's like 10 Die Hards, don't tell me that comic movies are overplayed. All of hollywood is overplayed. There's one script for every rom com.

Are you saying that nothing retarded came out before 1999? Because if you are, you are the retard.

remakes and sequels are the scourge of modern cinema, which includes comic book movies to an extent but is certainly not limited to them.

seriously, almost every big budget movie these days is a stupid ass remake or sequel. original ideas dont get funded these days unless they are attached to someone like chris nolan.

Sequels are fine by me, but remakes are redundant. Continuing a series adds depth (or hopes to), but remakes generally just tell the same story. I really hope we don't see a Spider-man origins for the 3rd time in 15 years.

sequels can be good, but do we really need a 5th transformers and a 7th fast and furious movie?

Horror films with the exception of a couple are 900X worse, Romantic Comedies, most action films are 90X worse. Most dramas are 10X worse.
