It was canceled do to Canelo's ankle injury, than like 2 weeks later he's in negotiations with Cotto, lol.

Canelo was tee'ing off on Angulo and he was just taking the blows. I think a lot of folks wanted Mayweather to fight a similar style as Angulo.

Dude must have been like 20 to 1 to win that fight. :oldlol:

I think he has a chance against Canelo though. Canelo at times impresses me and the rest of the time looks very average. Doesn't throw enough combos for me given his style, but that is just my opinion.

why would the judges even think of giving mayweather that fight, let alone actually give him the fight ?(rhetorical question) .. you gotta wonder ..

Amateurish performance by Kirkland. It's amazing he lasted as long as he did. I think because Canelo is Mexican and because he has some power, people mistake him for a brawler. He's really not. He is a boxer who can brawl when pushed.

He did what good boxers should do against a wild, undisciplined opponent last night. Good stuff.

7-5 either way or draw is acceptable.

It was a close fight but if anything it favored Castillo. The thing is Castillo was backed up by the numbers, he was the aggressor in at least 9 of the rounds but most importantly he was the champ in this bout. Challengers, should not, and rarely do get the decisions in a fight like this. Floyd was extremely lucky not to have lost that fight.

man you boxing stans overhype the shit out of people, like youre so desperate to have a great in this era of boxing you'll prop up just above average dudes to be great

i watched this fight. Canelo is alright but he's no great nor will he ever be great. i don't care if he's 24, he's a far cry from Tyson and they don't automatically become great the older they get. they were just brawlers but the match wasn't even that entertaining given all of the power shots they took.

it was easily more entertaining than the Pac/Floyd fight which i rewatched too. funny because i'd swear the punch count numbers everyone are throwing out there are wrong or incredibly bias, and how floyd must've gotten credit for >40~ body shot taps on hugs. i'd also swear Floyd hugged Pac about 30~ times and Pac must've hugged him like 5~....there is something seriously wrong with the boxing stan portrayal of that fight being 'Floyd domination' tho :facepalm

hate to tell y'all but this era doesn't have a great. Floyd may be a big draw but he's incredibly overrated, and everyone who is honest knows if he were white he wouldn't have nearly the stans. i swear its true but nobody wants to say it.

Canelo reminds me of Overeem hype. UFC stans were so desperate to crown a great after Fedor declined and Alistair Overeem got stupid hype. not to say either aren't good fighters but great is rare so save it for when greats actually exist desperate scrubs :sleeping

Actually, it's the networks who overhype fighters and shove them down our throats because they are so anxious to prop up their next star.

As for the Canelo/Kirkland fight, Kirkland was lucky Canelo missed so often with those right uppercuts....oooh you knew something was going to land eventually and then it was lights out.

Because of his brawling, reckless style he usually gets caught flush on the chin with his hands down, he's usually charging into the punch, and he never sees the punches coming because he's usually in the process of firing his own punch. That kind of style is really dangerous, both for you and your opponent. Entertaining as hell though. Imagine the Floyd/PAC fight with this kind of outcome. We'd still be talking about it.

Canelo reminds me of Overeem hype. UFC stans were so desperate to crown a great after Fedor declined and Alistair Overeem got stupid hype. not to say either aren't good fighters but great is rare so save it for when greats actually exist desperate scrubs :sleeping

What the f*ck are you rambling on about? :wtf:

No one considers Canelo 'a great' and he's not on anyone's top 5 P4P list.

Thats what they want doe. Two nighas just throwing heymakers all night.

Every fight ain't gonna be Hagler-Hearns.

man you boxing stans overhype the shit out of people, like youre so desperate to have a great in this era of boxing you'll prop up just above average dudes to be great

i watched this fight.

I can't speak for anyone else, but this is just pops and buzzes to me. I don't even know who you're directing this toward and/or what your point is.

So this fight did about 2.2M viewers. The highest for HBO since 2006. Not to mention the 30k that showed up to the baseball park. All this, after boxing died last week (again).

People were so pissed, that a million plus of viewers tuned in to see a replay of the death of boxing (may-pac). It was so bad, that a milion more people tuned in for the Canelo fight afterwards just to rub it in. Those vultures...

Lol only people who said boxing is dead was non boxing fans. May-Pac did more good than harm. If anything Pac suffered more than anyone.

This whole "Boxing is Dead" is conjured up by MMA fans with an inferiority complex. They believe that boxing is actually in competition with them and that boxing fans are shaking in their boots about the state of boxing.

media hyped the shit out of Canelo and this matchup, after the bore that was Mayweather Pac, thats why it got so many views. viewership will gradually decline to pre Mayweather Pac levels - bet :pimp:

most people are just looking for a reason to buy a PPV and have people over these days. like hype > actual greatness. boxing owns media, but thats where MMA needs to improve. once they get boxing media coverage and hyping, its over for boxing.

Fight got high viewers because they replayed the PPV right before. The same people who thought this fight would be competitive are the same people who thought Pacquiao had a chance.

you're probably right. since it was free on hbo or whatever and everyone probably wanted to see what all the hype or complainning was about that didn't buy the PPV...
