Comparing both of these players . Who you think will be selected as #1 pick & will be the better player ?

I'm starting to think that Okafor got nothing more to offer than post game play.

KarlTown >>>>>> Okafor

And probably the best that has come out of college ball since Tim Duncan. And Duncan played 4 years instead of 1.

I think Okafor will be the first pick considering what he's showcasing on the big stage but over time Towns will be better.

I think if they meet head to head in championship it will decide it by who plays better.

Tough choice.

I think Towns is a better fit for the Knicks, Okafor a better fit for the Sixers

Towns will be the #1 pick.

I said this on January 31st after he dropped several double doubles in a row.

The biggest difference is Towns is a 9 on offense and an 8 on defense, where Okafor is a 10 on offense and a 6 on defense. Towns affects play on both ends of the court.

Okafor needs to go to a team that already has a solid guard presence.

Don't think Sixers will trade Embiid..

And Noel has been ballin since the All-star break

Okafor but Towns could end being the better player.

Noel has been juggernaut on defense especially shoot blocking still too raw offensively he needs work on his decision making.

So they're going to rely on Embiid?

Why not?

People have not even seen towns full repertoire yet since Cal makes sure he stays in post most of the time but Towns has a very good jumper out past 3 point range. In next level that will be seen and used a lot more. The pick and pop game with him will be lethal down line.

I just wouldn't trust him to stay healthy. But hey, Sixers know more than i do

Cause college can hinder draft stock. Andre Drummond, Barnes, would have been top 3 picks had they not been in college. Mudiay is smart and he's still a top 3 pick. If he went to SMU he would be consensus #1

This is a great read on Mudiays year in China

]The move seemed to pay off, as the team did not lose a single game until the (meaningless) final game of the regular season, finishing 33-4 and with the #1 overall seed heading into the playoffs.

All the while, Mudiay was still working out and practicing with the team, continuing to collect his paycheck and staying ready for the event that he was called upon due to injury or a coach's decision.

That's exactly what ended up happening, as after losing the first two games of the playoff semifinals, Guangdong head coach Du Feng made the controversial decision to deactivate big man import Jeff Adrien in favor of an all-US backcourt of Bynum and Mudiay. The team only had one day off between games to prepare for this unconventional adjustment, with Mudiay and Bynum never having played together in any type of official setting.

Surprisingly, it worked. Mudiay came off the bench and played 34 minutes, scoring 24 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out four assists to go along with two turnovers. He shot just 6/15 from 2-point range, but made two of his four 3-point attempts and 6-10 free throws. Guangdong beat Beijing 110-99 at home, forcing a Game Four in Beijing two days later.

Things got a little bit stranger even in Game Four, as towards the end of the first quarter, Will Bynum went down with a hamstring injury that would shelve him for the rest of the game. From that point on, Mudiay was the only import at Guangdong's disposal, and he would go on to play a team-high 44 minutes (including an overtime session), looking utterly exhausted at times. Guangdong seemingly had the game won of a few different occasions, but the heroics of 38 year-old former NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury (who scored 38 points, including an incredible 3-pointer to force overtime) would ultimately prevent them from forcing a decisive Game 5 back on their home floor.

Mudiay didn't find the same success this time around, scoring 15 points, with 7 rebounds and 8 assists, but needing 14 shots (3-10 2P, 2-4 3P) to get there, turning the ball over six times, and again struggling from the free throw line, where he hit just 3-6 attempts (bringing him to 57% from the season). Guangdong's season ended on a disappointing note, with Beijing scoring on a miraculous putback at the buzzer to advance to the Finals against Liaoning.

Still, Mudiay's Chinese adventure went about as well as anyone could reasonably expect considering his age, lack of experience, and the incredible pressure of playing for a championship contending team in one of the least patient and rational basketball environments on earth. There are very few 18-year olds on the planet who are equipped to handle a situation like this, and all things considered, he certainly did not disappoint.

Now it's back to the US where Mudiay will likely keep a low profile until NBA Draft season rolls around, where its unlikely teams will get to see a great deal more than they were able to in China. This is what makes these surprising two playoff games he played this week so interesting, prompting us to take a deeper look at the film and see what can be gleaned.

Despite being sidelined, Mudiay has not been having a bad season. Indeed until he got injured, he was averaging 17.7 points, 6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. But in China, winning is the only acceptable currency. As soon as Mudiay went down and Bynum had his hot start, the Tigers moved on. Nothing personal, it’s just business. - Complex

Keep in mind he's playing on the best (or second best to Marybury's Beijing Ducks) team in China at only 18

It's a shame they didn't play each other during the season.

In terms of picking between the two, it comes down to need.

76ers - probably Towns
Knicks - Okafor but both would be great in the triangle
Wolves - Towns (they have Dieng and Pek. KG can tutor Towns)
Lakers - Okafor - they need a center who can play right away
Magic - Towns fits with their style a little better, and they have a hole at PF
Kings - Towns - fits with Boogie better
Nuggets - Okafor, he's much better than Nurkic
Pistons - Towns. Would fit nicely beside Drummond
Hornets - Okafor. Jefferson can't live forever
Hawks - Okafor. Allows Horford to play PF and Millsap to 6th man
Jazz - I could see them drafting Russell instead, or trading down
Pacers - Okafor. Towns needs more work, and Larry respects post play
Rockets - Towns. Great fit beside HOward, can play uptempo
Suns - Okafor. They need post scoring. Pairs well with Markieff

In terms of ceiling & floor:
Okafor
- Ceiling: Tim Duncan
- Middle: Al Jefferson
- Floor: Sharone Wright

Towns
- Ceiling: Kevin Garnett
- Middle: Rasheed Wallace
- Floor: Darko Milicic

Jebus, floors are pretty shitty :lol I think both will be good, but as a Knicks fan I'll take Towns. Okafor's ceiling could never be Duncan on defense because he just can't defend anyone.

He's only 19. Duncan played 4 years of college ball. Don't sleep on Okafor picking up his defense.

Okafor is more nimble, better coordinated, has a long wingspan and standing reach while weighing 20 lbs more.

He has much higher defensive potential than Towns tbh. Okafor's defense problem are overblown. Towns can't stay out of foul trouble and defers the better player to WCS most of the times.
