I'd almost say Jerry Lewis stole the show on that one.. but a huge DeNiro fan here.

BTW: I think it was the black dude from Oceans... dude has a criminally underrated performance in one movie. Pretty sure it was that guy.. forgot the exact names though. But that performance was GOAT level.

Good mention of Phoenix. Between The Master, Her, and Inherent Vice, he might be the best actor in the world right now. So versatile but good in all

I think De Niro's performance is the epitome of understated acting. He plays a very similar character in Taxi Driver, but Bickle is more outwardly volatile. There's just something so off-putting about the Pupkin character (then again, I think about that film way too much). :oldlol:

I haven't seen any of the Oceans movies. Can't help you there. :lol

Also, another performance worth mentioning is Sydney Pollack in Eyes Wide Shut. His character is menacing.

Especially since Malcom X and Glory are unquestionably better, and you can make good arguments for a few others. I think Glory is my favorite. And one I'd put in my top 5. Everyone remembers the Denzel tear but the campfire scene might be his best moments on screen. Malcom X is classic but everything he put into Glory makes it a unique Denzel performance.

I would put Christolph Waltz in Inglorious up there.
