Which is 7.

Since his first in 1999, no one else has more than 5 (Calipari, Roy Williams). And when you compare the amount and quality of NBA players on all of these teams with your Dukes, UNCs, and Kentuckys it becomes even more special. On the 2000 National Title team Morris Peterson was the only person on the starting 5 who had any type of NBA career.

One of the best coaches ever.

Izzo coaches great college players, nearly all of whom don't translate to the NBA. He's lucky he coaches at MSU because that kind of lack of NBA success gets used as negative recruiting at a blue blood. Dawson was the 17th ranked player in his class and has been at MSU for 4 years. He's not even projected to be drafted. Summers and Morgan were borderline 5 star players (both well in the 30s) and neither was drafted. Yet, no one is going to trash Izzo about it.

Kind of has the best of both worlds going. I like him, tho. Seems like a great guy and a fun coach to play under. No doubt he has his teams peak at the right time, which is one of the most important traits of a college basketball coach.

Yep this is why he's awesome. A month ago who the hell would have thought this team would be in the final four?

I never understood why Izzo doesn't seem to get the love that other coaches do. I understand he has just the one championship, but 7 Final Fours is amazing. The record is 12. Maybe it is because he doesn't turn out a great NBA tree. But that's not fair to a college coach. It isn't a development program it's a team competing in the NCAA league.
