View Full Version : For my NY people: rank the 5 boroughs

1. Queens- I honestly believe this borough has the most culture/diversity in all of NYC. So many different cultures and a lot of cute girls of all races. In my opinion, it has the most beautiful women of all the boroughs (maybe not Manhattan). Some sketchy neighborhoods. Has US Open and the Mets.
2. Manhattan- City literally has everything. This would be #1 but it has changed too much and has become way too clustered for my taste. Has the Knicks and Rangers.
3. Brooklyn- I will admit I haven't been there often. Once again, I feel the "ghettos" of Brooklyn aren't nearly as bad people say they are. I know of people who live in the East New York/Flatbush areas who grew up around middle class areas. Has the Nets.
4. Bronx- It gives a gritty feeling. Feels like pre-gentrified NYC. Doesn't have much besides the Bronx Zoo and Yankee Stadium.
5. Staten Island- been here like 3 times in my life. Quite boring.

I rep queens and manhattan the most out of the 5 since I love the city and have fam in queens. By the way we should include Long Island. My home Long Island deserves more rep and credit:applause:

Having ghetto cousins in Brooklyn ruined the city for me. My strongest memories of the city are roaches, grimy buildings, my insane cousins screaming at each other, and just wanting to get back upstate and see some damn trees. So I am biased.

Not to mention it is so loud. People just everywhere always making noise and it never stops. Personal preference for sure. But still.

I have also stayed in a really nice Jewish part of Brooklyn. I never knew that place existed until I went. It was a lot calmer. There were things to do everywhere, even if only just going to the park. A lot different than upstate. You have to make your own fun up here. So I can see why some people love it down there.

Overall though, I hate the city. Whenever I go back is too soon.

Manhattan

Why you feel the need to go anywhere else is beyond me unless there is a house party, or club event

Where in Brooklyn did your cousins live?

Growing up in Brooklyn, I was really freaked out the first time I visited the surburbs? I wondered what kids did with everything spread out so far. We could round up enough kids for a football game or 5 on 5 just from my block and one over. For a full baseball game we need a little bigger radius.

Honestly idk where it was. They were pretty broke. I hated going there.

You just have to organize with your friends up in the country. All meet up at someone's house and play videogames or go out and do things. Getting a full baseball game would be ROUGH. Lol. Just have to play little league for that. We used to walk through the woods and just explore. Climb up trees, walk from rock to rock in a little river. Loved it man.

It's Manhattan first because every single person would live there first if they could afford it. Brooklyn/Queens is 2/3 depending on your preference and Bronx/Staten Island 4/5 depending on where you know.

Yeah, that's pretty spot on. Almost every person I know never lived in the city with salaries under 120K.

So diverse too. Every neighborhood has that hot pocket of girls. For Jamaica, Queens- good looking black girls, Trini/Guyanese Caribbean girls, a good share of good looking Indian/Arab girls. It's considered one of the "sketchy" neighborhoods at night.
Flushing, Queens- if you are into Asian girls, this place is like heaven lol.
Corona, Queens- South American girls. Friend used to live in that area. Has a lot of Colombians.

I like being in a real neighborhood.

There's large chunks of Manhattan, I wouldn't go to if I didn't have to.

I happened to be up by Rockefeller Center today for a family thing and that part of midtown holds no appeal for me.

I honestly either prefer uptown Manhattan slightly after UES (where it borders Harlem) or Lower East Side downtown. They seem way more quiet than Midtown. Only downside is Lower East Side is definitely like a early to late 20s scene IMO. Better off living in western gentriifed parts of Brooklyn for cheaper rent.

Out of curiosity, what's Staten Island all about? I know virtually nothing about it.

I made my first trip out to New York last year, so obviously I have no basis for ranking the boroughs. Like true tourists, the majority of our time was spent in Manhattan. Though, I certainly enjoyed how much things calmed down once we stepped into Brooklyn. The area just off the Brooklyn Bridge extending southward seemed pleasant.

And all things considered, I didn't mind Harlam, hah. That was our first true opportunity to get away from the mass of humanity around Midtown, so that was nice. We showed our naivety when one of my brothers asked for a cup of tap water at Mama's Fried Chicken. Dude just gave my brother a look and was like, "Yeah, you don't want that."

I settled for a Snapple.

Neither do I, I barely been to Staten Island. Harlem is nice as long as you don't venture in certain parts of it.

Staten Island feels like the suburbs, even more so than Eastern Queens.
DeNino's Pizza is some of the best in the city

Yeah a lot of Eastern Queens is technically slightly more crowded than the burbs. I've been to Staten Island, I even saw more trees at one point than I usually do when I go to Long Island.

This. I live in Queens and it's already expensive just living 15 mins from Manhattan and a block from the 7 train. I guess the further you live from Manhattan and/or mass transit, the cheaper it is.

Who ask for tap water at a restaurant? :biggums:Ha, I almost always settle for a water at restaurants - I just never tend to think about where it comes from. Always looks clear and tastes fine in Michigan, though perhaps it's always just purified or something.
