View Full Version : Potential 2nd round matchup: Bulls v Cavs. No excuses.

Thought I'd get the Lebron family here to commit to no excuses made IF they lose to the Bulls in the second round.

I don't want to hear it, both teams have excuses for losing. Unless Lebron or Rose aren't playing, this matchup is legit.

You and I know there's a truck load of context in what you say.

Going by your logic, if Cavs had no Lebron for the next 3 years and bulls beat up on them, that somehow qualifies as legit ass kicking?

It doesn't.

There hasn't been a legit body of work to prove this.

Lebron has faced a full strength Bulls team ONCE and back when we had Bogans at SG and a 3rd year Rose to Lebron's prime.

I think it's safe to say we haven't seen a fair duel yet up til this year. Even though Lebron has stacked the team like he has, I think this is still a fair matchup.

Our team is hard to work out where we are at with all the injuries and inconsistency.

I understand why people don't rate us anymore, it's been 4 long years of expecting something to happen from them.

I'm optimistic about this year. I think we have a really good shot at getting out of the east. If anyone watched the recent knicks or toronto game, you can clearly see our offense looks pretty good and the defence is coming closer to what we expect. Our high post passing and off ball cuts are right on the money now.

The emergence of Mirotic into a 4th quarter closer could be crucial for when Rose gets extra attention.

I agree.

In context, he will be returning with a long injury history and 5 or 10 games under his belt from another injury...

Still, I'm happy to wear the criticism if he is suited up to play the entire series.

Expect? No.

I'm pretty sure that he will though. Doctors say that the removal of the tear will actually help him immediately and possibly improve on what he currently was this season.

Obviously the downside is a shorter career, but at this point he doesn't have that much time anyways.

I think it's safe to say we haven't seen a fair duel yet up til this year. Even though Lebron has stacked the team like he has, I think this is still a fair matchup.

You're so delusional it's mindblowing.

Full "strength" Bulls team then you make an excuse that you had Bogans at SG?
How about you mention the Heat had Big Z and Joel Anthony at center and Carlos ****ing Arroyo running point guard? No team in the NBA had as bad of a PG-C combo as the Heat in 2010-2011. The Bulls had an insane frontcourt advantage and still got destroyed. This was the only time Rose was "healthy" and got completely locked down.

Rose also played his 2nd year healthy and the Cavs absolutely steam-rolled the Bulls 4-1. He had a healthy Noah, Deng and couldn't even compete.

Then you act like Rose being injured is something that happens rarely. He's injured ALL the ****ing time and the fact that you still bring him up as some all-star to superstar level player blows my mind. He was a 18\5\3 40.7% FG 28.7 % 3PT player this year. Not to mention he couldn't guard a chair and is fragile and kept missing games before the major injury.

Even if Rose was "healthy" (which I don't even think that's all-star level anymore, and might never be until proven otherwise) the Heat would of still steam-rolled the Bulls in 2013. Nate Robinson (Roses replacement) played a great series and was the only reason they stole 1 game. Before you bring up injuries, don't forget 2013 playoff Wade pretty much played on no knees. The Heat still had a massive front-court disadvantage vs the Bulls.

You acting like it's going to be a different story amazes me. LeBron will still dominate the Bulls every way possible (like he always does). Even if Rose plays (who can be sure anymore) his knees will get completely destroyed if he has to guard Kyrie for 30+ MPG. Noah will bitch and moan like he always does, and the Cavs will beat the Bulls in 5, maybe 6 games tops.

So much anger in this post :applause:

Again, the "like he always does" is an out of context statement which Lebron fans like to throw around to annoy Bulls fans.

When put into context, Lebron really hasn't owned the Bulls. 3rd year Rose v prime Lebron isn't even fair. Then you look at the trapping techniques of that Heat team when Rose had no one else who could create their own shot or beat a man off the dribble and then you see why this example is a poor one.

The Heat may of had a poor centre and pg rotation, but that is stupid to say when the team leveraged their cap around 3 stars of the game. The team was never meant to be strong at all positions you dumb f.ck. :hammerhead:

3rd year Rose won MVP for crying out loud. He had a previous all-star in Boozer and an all-star in Noah. Former all-star in Loul Deng who was in his prime as well. By that season Taj Gibson already established himself as a good player.

You're crying about a weak SG (Corey is still a good defender) When the Heat had a insane disadvantage at 2 positions.

and Yes, LeBron has owned Rose. I don't know how you can justify otherwise.

You talking about Corey Brewer? Because I'm talking about Bogans at SG. :hammerhead:

You know, a total offensive blackhole for a team in dire need of scoring?

You are totally overlooking the type of player Deng is. He doesn't create his own shot, he doesn't break guys off the dribble, he scores on jump shots, cuts and straight line drives. His game is easy to nullify, since he can't beat you off the dribble.

The point is, the parts in both teams were heavily in Bron's favour. He had two guys he could lean on offensively and break guys off the dribble when he couldn't get it going. Bulls didn't have either.

Because of this, Lebron was able to strangle Rose with team trapping defenses because no one else on the Bulls could score at will like rose could.

I see Deng out of his prime play every single game for the Heat now. He was giving you 15-18 a game on good efficiency, not forcing anything, and playing good man to man defense. As a 3rd option, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. He also scores in the post.
No, both teams weren't in Brons favor. 2010? Yes absolutely.
In 2011 the Bulls swept the Heat in the regular season, had the best record + HCA, and the Heat offence was Wade and LeBron taking turns (the year they were both equal). Miami had the worst defensive and offensive point guard center combo in the league, with a shitshow of a bench. They relied on the Big 3 to literally do everything. The Bulls were the favorite going into that series.

Again, you are trying to use an excuse for why a team stacks itself with 3 stars in the first place? The Heat were able to fill those gaps with role players, which has lead them to winning 2 championships.

You don't get a balanced team when most of your cap is in your 3 stars. Stop using that bullshit.

So yeah, both teams were in Bron's favour. Finally, we get to see a more even matchup, even if Lebron tried to gain an insurmountable advantage with his new big 3.

Bullshit! The teams weren't in Lebron's favour. If Rose didn't shit in his pants when Lebron guarded him, they would beat Miami like they did in the regular season. Bulls only lost because Lebron elevated his play in ECF while Rose turned into a scrub. That year, Bulls had a HUGE advantage in their frontcourt. HUGE bench advantage. They had HCA. 2011- Complete bullshit

Bulls- 62-20, HCA, 1st seed, 3-0 vs the Heat in the regular season, Best defense in the NBA, MVP of the season on the team

Miami- 58-24, no HCA, 2nd seed, 0-3 reg season, LeBron and Wade learning to play together, zero bench

After the first game where the Bulls blew the Heat out, everyone was playing the "I told you so card" Shit, most people had the Celtics beating Miami in the 2nd round that year.

Then the Heat took a dump on both teams.

Bulls are a perennial disappointment. Not to me, because I always knew they were pretenders, but other people hype them up as a contender for whatever reason.
