With eight games to go GSW have already surpassed the 60 win mark, and probably finishing with 65+ wins, this kinda record doesn't leave place for competition. Curry and Harden both deserve the award IMO but it looks like Steph has it on lock.

even though harden deserves it more. curry should get it based on the criteria

its just a team record award... best player on the best team with an mvp candidate

Don't understand why people keep acting like Harden has played better. Not true at all. Dude is shooting 38% since the all star break. Curry has clearly been better.

Obvious Lebron-hating agenda is obvious:lol

As a Curry stan, I'd say they both deserve it and Curry will win based on team success and strong performance in March.

It's ridiculous. People have it set in their minds that Harden is doing some crazy shit, lighting it up consistently and putting the team on his back all year...when he really hasn't been that great for a big chunk of this season. Just last night got his shit pushed in by Derozan and the game winner hit in his face, while Curry embarrasses another top 3 PG tonight. Shooting 39% since the AS break while Curry is putting up 24/8 on near 50/50/90 shooting since the break and the Warriors have went 19-2 in the games Curry's played, coincidentally losing both games Curry didn't play in.

Even going beyond my Harden hate, Curry has objectively been the better player both by the numbers and by the eye test, and the Warriors are much better than the rockets.
:biggums:
I'm seriously asking.

as for Curry... take away Thompson and Green give him a coach like Brooks and lets see how he does...considering that's the kind of s### Westbrook's had to deal with

His turnovers and shooting percentages are pretty damn atrocious.

The OKC cast is fine after the trades.

Westbrook is shooting 42.5% and averaging 4.4 turnovers with an absurd usage rate and his team is the 8 seed. He's an amazing player, but people are just throwing his name in there for the hell of it. He doesn't actually have a legit case. You really don't think Curry could put up 28 PPG if he took 21 shots like Westbrook does?

It doesn't ****ing matter that Curry has better teammates...that doesn't change or take away from his superior performance. It's not the "superstar with the worst teammates" award.

Good for him, on pace for 53 wins and still a bottom 4 seed in the West.
Not to mention Durant played in some of those wins.

why harden deserves more??
why give it to a guy that relies heavily on whistles compares to the guy night in and night out shoot the light out and leads his team to have the best record in the league?

You're right, its not. Its the superstar with the best teammates award.

Look at the OP. First thing he points out is 65 wins for the Warriors is possible. Does Curry have 65 wins or do the Warriors have 65 wins?

Some years it's a good player on a great team award... 2015 happens to be one of those years.

Last year when Durant won it was a great player on a mediocre team in the western conference with awful coaching. Makes the MVP actually mean something when that happens.

This year it's good player on outstanding team with a fantastic coach.

I'm not saying Curry doesn't deserve it, just pointing out how awful an MVP year this is.

Obviously years like KD had don't come often, or really ever at all. Maybe he set the bar too high and I'm being too critical, who knows.

Curry is MVP, no doubt about it.

If he played 36 minutes like the other guys, his numbers would look even better:
26 ppg
8.6 apg
4.7 rpg
2.3 spg

Can't hate on him because he sat early after blowing out so many teams.
Seriously, what's not to like?

Its a shame people fail to see how amazing a year Curry is having.

24/4/8 on .635 TS%, 26/5/9 over 36 minutes. .635 TS% is PEAK Durant/LeBron efficiency. This is DESPITE getting to the line about half as much.

.291 WS/48, +17.3 on-off even though the Warriors have one of the best benches in the league, leads the league in RAPM and VORP, is second in wins produced, is second in wins produced/48, has a 122 ORTG compared to a 100 DRTG, is in the top 8 in steals per game.....and plays on the best regular season team since possibly the '97 Bulls.

Its ridiculous that hes getting penalized for being an AMAZING player while simultaneously playing on an AMAZING team :biggums:

Did Jordan not deserve the MVP in '96?? Come on now..

So last year the MVP award went to the guy who put the team on his back, carried them to one of the best records in the NBA in a tough Western conference despite his team's 2nd option being sidelined for the majority of the season.

Perfectly describes the Rockets season this year. But no, this year is "best player on the best team". How convenient.

So the MVP has to fulfill the exact same criteria, and go through the same set of hurdles every single year? All you're doing is docking Curry points for playing on a great team.

Just evaluate the season on its own merits -- its a phenomenal one, with or without his supporting cast. Guy is shooting as efficiently as Durant/LeBron at their best, improved his defense, and is averaging 8 assists on only 3 turnovers a game.

Its hilarious that if the Dubs were 10 games worse but Curry had the exact same season, his case would probably be stronger to some posters.

Guy is the MVP. Harden has a case too, and would be a deserving winner, but with each passing game Curry is separating himself from the pack.

With all due respect, it's important to note that second place is 11.0 games out of first, so 6th place is .5 games out of second, so major positioning shifts can happen with every game. The season is not over until it's over.

Harden was a beast this season, everyone puts up a dud once in a while. But Harden also does have a knack for not showing during big moments, so we'll see if he changes in that regard.

With that being said, gotta give it to Curry, with Harden being a "close" second..
