Win win. Knicks get the star they are looking for to sell tickets and build for the future and Carmelo can compete for a championships with Lebron like Wade did.

Wade could defend.

Wade could defend.
Neither Kevin Love or Carmelo are defenders....

Besides Melo could have more effort to put in defense like he did in 2013 and now he doesnt have to be relied on to score.

Cavs would honestly be better off just letting Love walk and filling out the roster with solid 3PT shooting/defensive role players and maybe a backup C like Koufos than trading for Melo. There is just no point in trading for Melo with his contract, with his new potential injury concerns, and age. Not to mention even when healthy he gives them something they don't need at all and is a liability at what they need most.

True, but Love is a better rebounder and a better passer. Arguably a better 3pt shooter as well.

EDIT: Oh, and younger. Melo's gonna turn 31 in a couple of weeks.

Well when you trade you can get the Bird rights to sign players over the cap, which the cavs will be. I dont think Melo's injury is that bad considering he still played in the all star game. So long term he obviously wasnt in danger.

No, Id definitely trust Melo to hit a big shot of any kind over Love.

His game shouldnt deteriorate much with age.

Well even if it'd be fine now, are the Cavs really gonna be cool with it 3-4 years from now when they're paying 34-35 year old Melo ~25 a year? Sure he can still be effective at that age..but that contract is still ridiculous no matter how you slice it.

Admittedly I'm not super aware of their cap situation down the road, so I don't know how his contract is gonna affect their ability to sign quality role players 3-4 years from now. Just seems like it'd be a killer to any type of proper roster construction.

Serge is the perfect fit for the Cavs

He's been hitting that 3 as well

Sign of things to come

Well the the Cavs are already going to be over the cap nomatter what and it shouldnt be too bad with cap increase set to come. If you are already over the cap you cant outright sign players players anyways, unless you have their bird rights, so it's not like that was ever in their plans. They will still have their exceptions and league mins.

They've already got LeBron and Irving to hit clutch shots. I wouldn't give up a better rebounding, passing, 3pt shooting, and younger (5 years) player for a better clutch player. Also, Melo is not exactly "clutch".

Since the '10 Season:

As I said, Love is not exactly clutch either, he's younger by 5 years, a better rebounder, a better passer, and a better 3pt shooter.

Can't post Love's rookie season and Melo's '09 season and each post allows only 10 images. FYI, Melo shot 56% during the '09 season.

Yeah, I'm just doing this from now on and saving the screenshots. Will be easier to post them in the future. I've been doing this recently for various other stats as well.

Carmelo is older, coming off major surgery and overpaid so I'd assume Cavs says no.

Melo's insane contract wouldn't allow this trade to work.

love says no, he wasted the first half of his career playing for a shit franchise. he is not going to another shit franchise and starting over. he is on a team over .500 and in the playoffs for the first time in his career and the cavs will pay him max cause gilbert give no fcks about money.

Cavs say no.

Melo is great but we don't need another ball-dominant ISO player when we already have 2.

But you'll have a super team with a better chance at winning a title.

Milbuck what do you think about Love for Ibaka, straight up. Thunder then let KD go, and sign a 3&D wing with the cap relief KD's departure brings.
