Critics agree with me.

Breaking Bad: 2 Golden Globe wins in 7 nominations. 16 Primetime Emmy wins in 49 nominations.

The Wire: 0 Golden Globe wins in 0 nominations. 0 Primetime Emmy wins in 2 nominations.

The critics gave Homeland an Emmy over Breaking Bad's 4th season in 2012, the critics know jack shit.

The Wire was underrated as hell through its entire run, it was only after the show ended that it started to get the recognition it deserved.

4th season was the best imo, 2nd and 5th were the weakest. 4 > 1 > 3 > 2 > 5 in my eyes, though I've started to appreciate the 2nd the more I re-watch it.

Sopranos is highly overrated, big woop you made a show based on a gazillian mobster movies filmed prior to sopranos. It has interesting elements such as tony visiting a shrink but it hardly makes it the goat show. Top 3? Sure, but not the greatest ever.

They delve into exploring these mob characters in a way that was never done before. As real people, as suburban Americans. Tony is amazing, but Christopher and Carmella are the meat of the show

The Wire is overrated by fans and accurately rated by critical acclaim. Good, not great. Sort of like the acting by everyone who isn't Omar and Stringer.

And it has nothing to do with the blackness of this show. I like black people plenty; real and fictional ones alike. In fact, my least favorite character from The Wire was that white cop. McNulty, I think? What a boring, one-dimensional character.

I gave this show a shot. I think I've just been spoiled a bit by the incredible quality of The Sopranos. Not just the writing, the characters, the acting, but the show's entire atmosphere masterfully crafted by Chase and Gandolfini.

Accurately rated by critical acclaim? Seasons 3 and 4 have a 98 on Metacritic, 2 is a 95, 5 is an 89, and 1 is a 79. That looks like critical acclaim to me. Season 3/4's score is actually higher than any of The Sopranos' seasons, something that's quite impressive considering the degree of hype that followed each show. I guess it's accurate as we're going off of an aggregate of the critics.

The kind of acclaim that matters; awards. Not the ratings by some hipster blog website.

Also, make up your mind:

You decided to cite critical acclaim, critical acclaim as far as reviews supported The Wire. :confusedshrug:

Awards mean jack shit, let's be real. That idiot from Homeland beat out Bryan Cranston for the Best Actor Emmy a few years back, it's a ****ing joke. The Wire wasn't hyped through its initial run, there's no way it had the popularity to win those major awards. In the time since its airing it has been rediscovered and has taken its rightful place at the head of the television pantheon.

Awards don't mean anything as you said. The Wire came close to not being renewed after the 3rd season due to lack of popularity.

As much as I enjoyed watching The Wire like everyone else, I have absolutely no desire to ever rewatch it. Never. I don't want to immerse myself back in poverty stricken, drug riden, crime infested, too realistic Baltimore. No thanks.

And that being said, I will not be watching Season 6 next fall.

That's like saying the wire is a show based on a gazillion cop shows/movies filmed prior to it. Pure stupidity.

how the fvck is season one so low?

No idea. I consider the first season to match up with season 3 as the 2nd best in the series, behind only season 4.

It has a 9.4 user score though, the people saw it for the excellent television that it was.
