"Stone Cold" Steve Austin is a bigger star in Pro Wrestling than The Rock and Hulk Hogan ever was.

I don't think you can put Brock on that level. There's probably plenty of people who have no clue who that is, but Hulk Hogan, Rock, Andre, Stone Cold, etc are household names who basically went beyond the sport. I don't even think, and I may get kicked in the ass for saying this, that Flair is really a household name beyond wrestling or the sporting world. I mean, and this is just anecdotally, I can go to my 70 year old parents right now and say the names Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan, only one of their names they'd recognize and they don't watch wrestling. My wife has heard of Hogan, Rock and Stone Cold, but wouldn't have a clue about Flair and she has absolutely zero knowledge about wrestling or sports in general.

Hogan is a good comparison

-bald
-divorced
-adulterer
-manufactured
-shitty era
-multiple retirements
-no range
-self absorbed
-egomaniac
-replaced by someone with way more talent (bret hart/kobe bryant)
-both needed nwo dennis rodman to win anything in their later years

It seems sad that Hogan's net worth is around 8 million and Jordan's is over 1 billion.

Hogan was the face of wrestling for years, but wrestlers are not as marketable as professional sports players.

I honestly think Durant's bigger than both.

Chicago was already the shit before Jordan came around. OKC was nothing before Durant but now it's arguably the best city in America.

Hogan outweighs him by at least 150 lbs.

Don't laugh, where else are you gonna get quick access to KKK meetings and an efficient amount of tornados.

Let's not even get started on the dominant number of obese hicks.

OKC: The city that never reads.

Yeah but even then, if you walked up to a casual non-fan and said 'hey, have you heard of the Undertaker?', are they as likely to know who you're referring to as compared to saying, 'hey, have you heard of Hulk Hogan?' "Yeah he's that wrestler."

I mean, *most* people probably know the name Hulk Hogan and what he is/was, similar to Michael Jordan. You don't have to watch basketball to have heard the name Michael Jordan or know what he does/did, he's a household name. That's the difference. Now, if the argument is impact on wrestling, I don't think Undertaker was ever 'the face' of wrestling like Hogan was, but his career is certainly probably top 5-6 just off the top of my head: Hogan-Flair-HBK-HHH-Taker? Sure, I'm missing a few obvious names there....

Bear in mind that SCSA/Hogan/Rock are all celebrities outside wrestling because of their various movies/reality shows/etc.

Hogan. Until he came along wrestling was considered a regional and backwater sport. When he came along, along with Vince McMahon behind the scenes, it went completely mainstream, getting on MTV, FOX and NBC, things like that. FOX got 30+ million viewers for a show in the 80's, that's what Hogan did for them.

Jordan was great for the NBA, and brought it tons of new fans, but he didn't transform the NBA the way Hogan transformed the WWE.
