I need a little getaway....what are some things I can do? I don't mind driving a few hours for a destination.

Is Atlantic city worth visiting?

What about Mohonk mountain?

Any advice?

go deep sea fishing off Montauk. No Atlantic City is not worth visiting.

If you want to go to rundown beach town Asbury Park is closer. If you want to go to casino to to Connecticut.

You can hop the Acela train and go to Washington. See the Smithsonian.

You want a long drive, you can hit Montreal.

Im gonna visit Montreal or Toronto sometime in the summer.

Smithsonian actually sounds like an option. Thanks. Anything else?

Go train hoping with Knicks and his pet rat. I hear it's a New York tradition for tourists.

I dont know what that means.

Go from subway train to subway train for hours.

You'll get a couple cool sites you'll only see in New York. Couple rats break dancing, homeless people asking for money, and graffiti of Papoose lyrics on the walls.

This is your idea of fun?

He's trying to be funny.

There are literally hundreds of things to do in NY. You have to be more specific.

Can't forget Central Park. If you eat meat, check out 53rd and 6th's chicken and rice after 7PM (they got chicken/lamb platters that are so good, I have literally traveled 1 hour in traffic just to get this on more than one occasion). Haven't been there in years (I have heard the quality has gone down from a few people who never liked it that much in the first place). Legitimately the greatest street food I have ever eaten.

Um see something at MSG? Go to Brooklyn, check out Coney Island. A lot of things to do around Brooklyn too as well as Manhattan. Check out Time Square and 5th Avenue.

Lake George upstate. Beautiful place. Parasailing can be done around there, jetskis can be used, a lot of boating too on the streams, etc. Is one of my favorite weekend spots in NY.

So you are wanting to go to upstate New York?

Honestly.. there isn't a whole lot to DO up here, as far as like, places to visit. That is kind of the charm of upstate, no? In the city you have endless activities. Upstate it is just like...a man and nature. And his imagination. lol

In Sullivan County NY (about two hours from the city) they have the original site of Woodstock, which has been converted into Bethel Woods Museum of the Arts. They have a lot of concerts there throughout the summer. You could like, find a local place to stay, take a few hikes, go swim in a river in the woods (there are plenty of good spots). Eat at a small town diner. Camp for a night. Check out some concerts. Etc etc

That would have to be a summer trip though!

Kev I might be there next weekend

Couch surf bud?

I've been priced out of my hipsterville paradise. Google Carnasie and see if that location makes sense for you.

I'm staying on Paerdegat Avenue North until we find a new place.

I like Atlantic City ok, but visiting there from New York is totally backwards. For one it's actually a pretty good haul, and you'd want to spend the night, in which case the CT Casinos are much nicer.

But like all the stuff said, like see something in MSG, hit stubhub and go see a play, Book of Mormon is hysterical, and I'm dieing to see the Larry David play. There's an almost infinite number of high resturants. Visit the WTC memorial, and you can make a day down there at Battery Park. Central Park you could spend an entire week in with all the shit in there. If you want to travel a little, the Bronx Zoo is cool. Google up some foot tours if you want to go touristy.

I'm just gonna go to Atlantic City. Check it out, I'm only going for a night anyways. Those other recomendations in upper NY will definitely be revisited when the weather gets nicer.

Thanks.

sight seeing is boring as fukk. if i were you i'd go for food and shopping but honestly shopping is overrated unless you're rich and can blow thousands on a shopping spree.

ny is known as having the best restaurants throughout the world, from street foods to high end.

its also the fashion mecca of the world next to maybe Paris or some shit like that.

land marks are only cool if they're like natural wonders or have super old history behind it but NY empire state building kind of crap is so overrated a tourist site its basically a excuse to waste a whole day climbing stairs.

you're better off visiting the hood and telling peoplle u walked thru Queens and bragging nobody fukked with you :pimp:

How about flyfishing? There are some very nice trout streams/rivers/creeks around there...

Its a shame not many tried flyfishing, massive difference between that and normal fishing... its an art and its more than just fishing.... that is my only rehab/getaway/semester from all the stress of life that actually works i mean... just turn of your phone and escape into the woods and only think about the rising fish, hatches, the presentation and just embrace the sounds of the water crashing the stones, wind, trees, life and zen out in mother nature..... The fish caught you dont kill/bring with you, you just catch & release everything and thank it for the sport, unless you want to eat some, preferably open fire it right there in the woods and nothing tastes better than a trout... have some coffee afterwards or hell why not a joint, relax....

All of it sounds kindof giggly, until you do it.... i cant explain it well, must only show or you experience at least once... all i know is you guys are missing out!

Anyway Queens is a giant area with 2.3 million people in it and the median income is $58,000 per which is in the upper half for the US.
