Shaq/Hakeem too low, West too high. I do agree on a general note on the players included in the top-15, my order wouldn't be the exact same though.

Just going though it now and a couple of stand out ...
-David Robinson one spot over Hakeem. I guess that 95 series doesn't count?
-Never seen Doc J this low on any list before, the hell?
-PAUL PIERCE, wtf!! 36.
-RAY ALLEN, wtf!! 44.
-ADRIAN DANTLEY, wtf!! 48.
-RICK BARRY, wtf!! 51.
-SHAWN MARION, wtf!! 71.
-GEORGE MIKAN, wtf!! 74.
-MANU GINOBILI, wtf!! 75.
List gets worse and worse as you go through.
Just a few names of players who missed the cut.
MVPs like Willis Reed and Bob McAdoo didn't make it over guys like Walt Bellamy. Reed and McAdoo were of the same era as Bellamy, and probably dominated him in head to head competition.
Pistol Pete or Earl Monroe not here, but Detlef Schrempf and Larry Nance are.
This might be one of the worse list I have ever seen.

Not at all arguable for top 5...just no.
Likely top 10? Sure, but not a lock. He's fringe top 10 now that Lebron has the 5 finals and 2 titles, 2 finals mvps and 4 mvps.
Lebrun's resume now pretty much equals Kobe's and Lebron is clearly the better player peak vs peak and prime vs prime.
So...no.

Solid argument. dumb ******. :lol
How is he an arguable top-5? There's not a single player in BR's top-5 that Kobe deserves to be higher than.
Hakeem should have slotted in at 9/10, Shaq should have moved up to 7, LeBron should be behind Bird (at least for now). Kobe is far from an unquestionable top-10, he's fine at 11.

not to mention the fact that he SONNED D-Rob in the '95 WCF after David Robinson won MVP. There is no freaking way Hakeem should EVER be ranked below that guy.
The only time Robinson should ever be listed in front of Hakeem is when they're ranking the greatest Spur of All-Time, and even that's debatable.

Bro, I know you have a hard on for downplaying Kobe at every juncture , but Lebron doesn't even have a better playoff resume than KB yet. Let alone a better prime.

And it does.
5 finals, 2 titles, 2 finals mvp's, and 4 mvp's....
That simply is on par (better in my opinion)
7 finals, 5 titles, 2 finals mvp's, and 1 mvp

"Cutting to the chase, Robinson was simply better than Olajuwon ever was, even if the No. 14 player in this countdown was more unique and had a more recognizable move—the patented Dream Shake."
:biggums:
93-94 Hakeem is arguably the GOAT season of all time
MVP, DPOY, FMVP and winning a title carrying a team with no other all-stars/all-NBA playersHakeem Olajuwon deserves mega credit for being the primary reason the Rockets ever won anything. However, he did get some great performances from his teammates over the course of those runs. And to be sure, those performances could have been a result of Hakeem's abilities (opening up shooters via double teams, for instance). But all five starters averaging double figures, with Kenny Smith threatening to hit 50% of his triple tries over the course of the playoffs isn't too shabby.
Meanwhile, David Robinson led the league in scoring in 1994 (29.8 points per game) while also leading his team in every other statistical category outside of rebounds, which he also would have led under normal circumstances (i.e. on any non-Rodman team).
Unfortunately for Robinson and the city of San Antonio, he did not find himself surrounded by teammates ready to step up once the 1994 postseason hit. Only two players (he and Dale Ellis) scored more than 9.3 points per game and Ellis, a sharpshooter, did so while hitting just 29% from the arc in a first-round loss to the Jazz.
The reason for San Antonio's struggles against Utah are a little mysterious to me, since I haven't seen the series since I was in elementary school. The statistics seem to suggest the possibility of Utah likely double and triple teaming Robinson, forcing other Spurs to beat them. When that didn't work, perhaps Robinson forced and struggled. Tough to know for sure.
In contrast, when Houston ran into Utah in that year's conference finals, I still believe it could be interpreted as a heavy benefit to Hakeem's ability to dominate when he had teammates like Kenny Smith, who hit 53% of his triples in the series. If Utah wanted to force the ball out of Hakeem's hands, Kenny, Robert, and Vernon were ready.
All that said, I'm not ready to say I agree with the Bleacher Report ranking, haha. I just thought there was a lot more to Houston's run than just Hakeem dominating - just as I felt there was more to San Antonio's fall in '94 than Robinson failing.

You can count Kobe's first 3 rings if you want to compare him to Robert Horry of Derek Fisher, feel free.
If you want to compare him to the greats, only alpha dog rings count, and even then Kobe wasnt even the clear cut best in 2009,2010, so its hard to even say if Kobe is really an all-time great or not.

Lebron for his career misses 10 FGA + 2.2 FTA a game - 12.2 shots
Kobe for his career misses 10.8 FGA + 1.2 FTA a game - 12 shots
Lebron misses more shots per game on average, and his averages are going to fall when he declines.

But looking back, going into that playoff run, Smith was really the only elite three point shooter among the starters.
Maxwell was at .298, Horry was at .324, and Thorpe didn't shoot threes.

I really don't think that is a fair argument considering Kobe winning only 3 times with peak Shaq is about the low end of what I'd expect years 1 through 8 Lebron to do considering he was so much better than Kobe early on their respective careers.
I really only care what happens on the court unless it's something that happens off the court that impacts the play on the court.
LeBron leaving doesn't make him less of a player. He just left because his franchise the drafted him was a joke.
Now, being accused of rape in the midst of a title run...that might be a different story.

And Lebron winning only twice despite going four straight times in a depleted conference is even worse.
Say what you want but there were heavy hitters in his conference during every one of Kobe's winning seasons, and up and comers. LBJ was dominating his conference and made the Finals as early as 07 there weren't any proper threats til 08 and he still didn't make it back til 2011. Stop it bro, if you're gonna put in all these bogus requirements for Kobe add them for ya boy too.

How does that have anything to do with a basketball discussion?
Low end? Kobe was 17 when he was drafted to the Lakers and when Shaq signed there, they played 5 seasons together with Kobe as a starter, they went to 4 Finals and won 3 in a row. Shaq was out of his prime by 04 and Kobe was injured/his personal life made it hard to focus on basketball.
Lebron wins in the statistical category, Kobe wins in accolades.

THIS.
Kobe 00-02 faced the real teams en route to the Finals, and he put in the work and has more than enough examples to back up his greatness.
Prime Lebron averaged what, 25 ppg on medicore shooting against 2013 Spurs? Kobe against prime Duncan with D-Rob there to protect the rim averaged 33/7/7 in 01, not to mention that he did that under the old defensive rules, where handchecking was legal and spacing sucked. Lebron averaged 25 ppg while defenders dared him to shoot wide open jump shots.

Its crazy how people really forget how mentally weak Lebron was a few years ago...Before he went to Miami, he use to have a mental break down in so many playoff series...His first finals lost was absolutely due to the fact he was mentally weak...You can have stats all you want, but i remember watching this guy hide from the ball in fourth quarters, pass up many game winning shots, a become a shell of his self at times.
Im sorry but i have never seen Kobe shy away from any moments, he always wanted the last shot, miss it or make it...

He was dared to hit wide open jump shots, and he shot under 44% 5 out of 7 times in the series, including two sub-40 shooting games.
Kobe against the Spurs in 2001: 33/7/7 on 51% shooting, 38% from 3
Kobe against the Spurs in 2008: 29/6/4 on 53% shooting
Lebron is 1-3 against the Spurs, Kobe's 4-2. Kobe never went 1-3 with 2 turnovers in the last minute of a Finals game with the other team being up 3 - 2
If Game 6 came down to Lebron to close the deal, Spurs are champs. Fortunately for him, his teammates rebounded two of his bricked 3's.

Those Spurs teams of the old were far inferior than the current one.
Think about it, Duncan was like the best player on those teams, but now he's the 3rd or 4th best player on this Spurs, that tells you the difference.
And why dont you look at LeBrons 2014 series vs the Spurs?
28/8/4 on 58% FG and 51% from the 3 for a total TS of 68%
So we just found out LeBron had 2 series against the Spurs better than anything Kobe has ever done?
And LeBron is 1-2 against the spurs with both losses coming with a garbage squad.

I think its time we stop trying to compare Kobe to Jordan/Lebron, it will just hurt Kobe fans in the long run
Kobe is a great talent, amazing player, one of the 15-17 greatest to ever play, but he just was never that impactful
Shaq leaves:
Kobe misses the playoffs, and loses in the 1st round 2 straight years.
They get Dwight Howard:
Kobe cant even get better than the 7th seed
Gasol leaves:
Kobe misses the playoffs the next year, and stays in the lottery for the rest of his career.
Can you imagine this happening to Jordan/LeBron? Never in a million years :oldlol:
The writing is on the wall, Kobe has fancy scoring moves but in the grand scheme does not really do much to help you win. So marvel at his YouTube highlights, but stop living in this fantasy were Kobe was a great player, cause he wasnt.

Duncan was the best player on the Spurs in the 2013 Finals, especially in Games 6 & 7.
Why would I post Lebron's numbers from a series, where the other team was effortlessly outscoring his team? The whole series outside of Games 1 & 2 was garbage time. He averaged what, 4 points a game in the 4th and shot below 44% and averaged less than 1 point per shot, when the games were close? And got dominated by Kawhi Leonard, who won the FMVP?
Please.

Tragic list.
Hakeem at 14 is a joke. I think certain aspects of his game are overrated -- he was a bad gambler on defense for years, a black hole at times, and he wasn't a great creator -- but he is arguably the greatest two-way player ever. His 94 postseason ranks among the biggest carry-jobs of all time.
Parker on this at all is a joke, but he's also above Manu. :oldlol:
Manu was literally better than Parker for every year of their careers with the exception of 2013.

Lol wut. The only mental breakdown he had was in the 2011 finals. Before he went to Miami he lost to the Spurs in the finals as a 22 year old, in 08' he lost to the Big 3 Celtics in a close game 7 in the Garden, the following year he nearly averages 40 ppg in the ECF and they lose in 6. By 2010 he had enough and gave up against the celtics big 3. And wanting to take the last shot doesn't make a player better or more clutch, Lebron makes the right play at the end of games while Kobe takes the final more "ballsy" shot. Imo LBJ > Kobe but not by much

He's like Tim Duncan in a sense that his team was winning since he was drafted by the Lakers in 1980. He even led his team in the NBA Finals in 1991 without Kareem.
I think he's an underrated defender. He was good at stealing the ball. And the Lakers were the best team in the 1980's. Although the western conference was a water down league just like the current East.
