Im thinking of following a religion

Life without knowing what to believe is too difficult. Psychologically it is easier to believe in a god. Pray to succeed, and knowing whatever outcome is best god will find for you, makes you feel a lot more at ease than not knowing anything and living in doubt.

There are a whole bunch of rich Christians, Muslims and Jews out there man. When you harness religion in a positive manner, it can be good for you and improve your life. Its like having a big daddy in the sky taking care of you. Helps you worry less. Even if the whole thing is bullshit.

So I'm looking to test drive some religions to try out my theory. Any suggestions? Ones with the least laws and most powerful gods please.

God does want what's best for you. But if you are not sincere in your desire to improve, you won't have the strongest connection. Even a murderer who wants to learn from his mistakes can have a strong connection with God, because God created us and understands that we have limitations and weaknesses. But you need to have that desire to bring light into your life. In my opinion.

I was raised Catholic and that is generally what I follow. I don't think you need to follow every rule of organized religion to have a connection with God. God knows everything about you. He knows that I think organized religion is a waste of time. He knows I believe it to be a construct created by people and not necessary to believe. And also that it is okay for others to follow, if that is their path.

Just pray. Put your hands together and talk. Out loud or in your head. Say whatever comes to mind. Talk to God. Say what you think, what you feel, even if you say that you feel stupid. Even if you say that you aren't sure you even believe that anyone is listening. You can say you think religion is dumb, and you really just want to use it for your own personal gain. You can say you feel bad for saying that, but it is true. Just whatever comes to mind.

At the end of your prayer, be honest about what you want. Say exactly what you want, whether it is to be happy, to be successful, just say it. And remember that God works in mysterious ways..

Religion isn't doing much... my belief in God is what matters.

Religion can be a horrible, spiteful thing.... it's idiotic, people are hurting and killing over writings done thousands of years ago, sometimes not even questioning their authority, and alot of it is because people don't even care for the better of humans, but just want to force their will on others... its a power struggle.

This ridiculous Idea of not making not making "Heaven" or even going to "Hell" because of a non-belief in God, is ludicrous.

I'll end any book that says such a thing... a good hearted civilian, kind, treats nature well, puts other above himself, loves friends and family, but because he didn't grew up in the suitable surroundings to end up a believer, he's now not supposed to make the cut?
