Think Bron's stacked up on enough 3-point shooters this year? :lol
Man has always needed elite spacing to succeed as he's not great at manoeuvring in tight spaces - clear out for Bron everybody!

That's a pretty amazing statistic. The fact that JR was a throw-in for that trade is amazing in retrospect.

Could have been a perennial allstar if he wanted.
I wonder who is 4th, 5th, 6th, and so on. I bet there's a few surprising names on this sort of list.

Repeating dumb things you read never helps you out. Jr is and has always been a much better player than shumpert. The trade was for both or shumpert was the throw in.

JR Smith is underrated. He's a good defender too. I've seen him get so many important blocks and steals this year and his man-to-man has been decent.

Repeating "dumb things" or using logic to deduce what happened?
The deal was made from NY's standpoint because they wanted to get rid of JR's contract, which was seen as an albatross. He has played up to it and more in Cleveland. That doesn't change history, though. His was considered one of the worst contracts in the NBA at the time of the trade.
The Cavs actually got Shumpert, Smith and a first-rounder in the deal. Your post might make some sense if Shump had a large contract or the Knicks received a draft pick in return.
Neither of those things happened. It was a trade for cap relief from NY's perspective. Shump was still on his rookie deal, so taking his contract off the books really didn't help them at all. The Cavs got the best draft pick that changed hands in the deal.
Thus, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the Knicks specifically traded Shumpert and allowed the Cavaliers to also get back a draft pick because they were desperate to get Smith off their books and out of their lockerroom.
That's what is commonly known as a "throw in" from the Cavs' perspective.

I guess I agree w everything you said except your explanation of "throw in". Like you said the main point of the deal was JR. Shumpert barely counted. To me that's what made shumpert the throw in. Or I guess add on w the pick. Phil made a bad trade. I've liked everything he has done so far beside that trade. I don't think he will be able to use 7 million that well this offseason but I guess we will see. If he signs a superstar and needed that cap space then I'll be wrong.
I've only watched JR closely for every year of his career since his second season. I've always been a huge fan and not seen him as his reputation looks. I always thought Karl sabatoged him and Carmelo and pushed them in the direction they get so much hate for. And I've always said that all the complaints could go away as soon as he didn't spend so much of his time as a or the primary option. Never should throw him out w non offensive 2nd teamers. Play him as a secondary scorer and he will be lethal. I feel like That is starting to be proved.
I'm just glad for jr that he will almost surely play in the finals and likely win a ring. Still want him to take love or lebron with him and go back to ny.
