I know it burns the Kobe and Lebron stans (and I like Lebron, but his stans are pathetic) that all these years later MJ is still the standard of excellence in the NBA.

That new generations who didn't even grow up watching him play want to be like Mike.

That 20 years from now, people will STILL want to be like Mike and there will be NO "still want to be like Kobe" commercials.

True story about Larry Bird. Nike did a commercial with a number of NBA superstars singing the "I wanna be like Mike" jingle. They asked Bird to participate and he refused. He said he didn't want to be like Mike because he didn't regard Michael Jordan as his superior.

Nobody wears his shoe for basketball. Go to the gym, rec center, or park. Everyone has LeBron's or KD's.

You're normally on ignore, but I happened to see your post because my browser had auto signed me out. I had to reply to your lie. He IS in a Be Like Mike commercial:

Fukkin liar. But then again, you're a lowlife, pathetic Kobe Stan so what else would I expect? Also, there are no "Be Like Mike" commercials with NBA superstars singing the jingle. WTF are you talking about? Simpleton.

Nobody wants to be like Mike, Kobe, or Bran. They are all selfish a$$holes with huge egos. People want to be like Steph Curry. Nice, humble, polite, and adorable.

bird & the celtics routinely kicked jordan's ass in the 80's. did they(jordan & bulls) ever win a playoff series against them?

ya, bird definitely didn't want to be like mike. :oldlol:

And yet, Bird himself will tell you Mike's GOAT. Also, GOAT won his last title SEVENTEEN years ago and yet is still THE icon of the sport with today's athletes wanting to be a part of the "Be Like Mike" tradition and a whole new generation too.

No one has, or will come close to that kind of appeal in NBA history. No one. Not Magic, not Bird, not Kobe, Not Lebron, Not Shaq, etc. etc.

You can  about it if you want, but doesn't change the facts.

There's really no argument. Jordan is the GOAT.

I wanna be like him, everyone should want to be a winner.

Maybe the best basketball shoes ever. Aesthetically and performance wise.

Wilt has been dead for 15 years, and he still gets a thread every day here. I doubt Jordan will be forgotten, considering that he lives rent free in so many heads.

nice deflection, but the answer i was looking for was a "yes" or "no". did jordan ever beat larry in a h2h playoff series?

the rest of your post was pure fanaticism. if i wanted to read cult-like admiration, i would lookup a charles manson bio.

Sooo, to be considered GOAT you have to beat another player (a player, I might add, that considers you GOAT :oldlol:) in a playoff series.

Gotcha. Btw, I'm not entertaining your stupidity because your initial comment had nothing to do with the topic of this thread, which is to celebrate the continued legend of His Royal Airness.

And Bird DID want to be like Mike. He was in a commercial called "Be Like Mike". The only thing is, he just wasn't going to sing about it. :oldlol:

sooo, is that a yes or no? still waiting on your reply

btw, bird was also in jordan's movie. they're friends. he didn't literally wanna be like mike, you lunatic. :oldlol:

and why would he? larry reigned supreme in his era.

Damn, I read this thread whilst at work and came home and it was proven correct in like 10 minutes.

I'm getting my 6 year old daughter ready for tee ball practice and she's all "Dad, can I wear my Jordan's instead of my cleats to practice?". She's got a pair of J's that a friend of mine handed me down and I didn't even know she knew that they were J's so I'm like "What are Jordans?" and she's "basketball shoes made by the goodest player ever". Considering I have never even talked hoop with her ever that is impressive branding.

Jordans legend will never die.

My niece is 8, never saw MJ play (either for the Bulls or Wizards) but loves her Jordans and knows who MJ is (and no, I didn't indoctrinate her to the cult of MJ).

Today's players want to be a gambling addict and quit on their team twice with the chance to 4-peat?
