When it comes to coaching/consistent dominance, nobody's ****ing with them. They didn't have the benefit of a big market or a smaller league. Have completely dominated the modern era for 15+ years and counting. If this team was in New York, nobody would debate their GOATness . Hell, idiot Knicks fans/media already think they're a historically great team, imagine if they had the Spurs.

If they win a title this year, they further solidify themselves as the GOAT organization, and Duncan moves into the top 5 cementing himself as the modern day Bill Russell.

Lakers and Celtics have something to say about that, but they are up there.

The thing is...Parker/Ginobili/Duncan are old. I think their drop off is going to be pretty severe, even with Pop coaching and Leonard peaking. The thing about "growing old" in sports is that it happens overnight.

Lakers and Celtics have been able to redefine themselves back into greatness many times.

Who knows how long it will take the Spurs to regain greatness once they slip out of it.

They've been slipping out of it the past 8 years, though. Guess it has to happen finally sometime.

2011 - 1st round
2012 - WCF
2013 - Finals
2014 - NBA Champions

How have they been "slipping out of it" exactly?

Don't want to go back and forth, but out of curiosity who do you have in your top 5 right now? Personally I have Duncan at #5 now, but I think he already has an argument for #3. If they won another championship, I'm not sure how he could possibly stay out of the top 5.

1. Jordan
2. KAJ
3. Wilt
4. Russell
5. Shaq

Not really in a strict order after number 2.

Lakers and celtics have had many great players and coaches over a massive period of time. Spurs have done all this with the same coach and same big 3. The longevity is immeasurable.

The Duncan era has outlived Shaq/Kobe, TMac/Ming, AI, Kobe/Pau, KG/Pierce/Allen/Rondo, Nash/Stoudemire/D'Antoni, Kidd/KMart, Thuggets, Early 00's Pistons, LeBron/Bosh/Wade. Won't be surprised if this Tim Duncan era outlives Westbrook/Durant.

Green and Leonard is nice. I think they need a reliable big and serviceable PG at least.
