What is Zone-sandwiching™? It is simply defined as:

"The strong help defense from either a soft or defined zone"

This is not a double team. It is too weak to be labelled such, and differentiates from basic help defense because it is from a zone that which is either "soft or defined" Zone sandwiches™ have only been legal since Illegal Defense Rules were abolished back in 2001; prior to this defenses were very much restricted in what they could do. For more info on the topic of Illegal Defense click here. (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371556)

Why would defenses use zone sandwiches™? Usually in cases it is most used to hinder elite individual talents. It allows teams to cover more floor without giving up open shooters due to the soft/hard zone formation. Rotations are thus easier to perform so shooters nearly always are covered in a good defensive team today. This freedom of defense since the early 2000's has caused a stylistic shift in how offense is played in the NBA. The slow lumbering low post bigs of yesteryear are not nearly as effective as the space and pace game of today. It's all about efficiency. Teams can no longer hang off of one player, play majority of isolation basketball and then hope for success. It just doesn't work like it did in the past. Elite talents have to involve their team much more so; team defense and overall offenses are peaking at all time levels today.

Zone-sandwiching was the strategy San Antonio used on Lebron in the 2013 NBA Finals. It worked well the first 3 games but Lebron found ways to exploit it ala team work, off ball movement and spacing

A zone sandwich is also defined as something MJ has for breakfast.

Seriously OP, all this proves is how slow Bron is. He lacks the quickness/explosiveness to attack and beat these defense/ders.

He lacks the IQ and vision to read them.

He lacks the aggressiveness to attempt to beat it.

There is NOTHING that you or others have ever posted that MJ hasn't faced and beat.

Unless you want 3ball or myself to flood the board with footage, I suggest you stop the idiocy.

Zone sandwiching is a big part of why team defense is better today than ever

You won't find any stats that show this, it needs to be seen

This

MJ has dealt with this of what lebron has faced but MJ managed with the defense much better than lebron.

Exactly.

He tried to emulate me, knowing I have a HUGE dick, and he starts preening about whats packed in his own holster. Ofc the difference is mine is a legit gargantuan and hes straight sellin wolf tickets about his little golf pencil.

Dude has no maturity.

The Carlos Mencia of ISH. :lol

If you're going to steal other people's material from 8 years ago, at least do it right. A 'zone sandwich' as defined by basketball genius KB42PAH is a double team off the ball. It's a tactic that was invented sometime in the 2006 season to stop Kobe Bryant, the most double-teamed player of all time. No one in the 'If you could dunk you were a legend' 80s or 90s ever saw that sort of defense... not even Kobe 'the most double teamed player of all time' Bryant who was drafted in the mid 90s.
