When was the last time the Spurs weren't championship or bust?

Spurs ALWAYS gun for the championship, anything less is definitely a disappointment. I wouldn't call them overwhelming favourites to win however.

I wouldn't bet against them, they already proved they can win on the road and they seem to play well against the Warriors (the other best team)
As finals goes, I think they would beat the Hawks or the Cavs too. Yes, the Cavs defeated them but it took a great game for Kyrie and Lebron to barely beat the Spurs in OT.

Spurs got the Cavs.

Took literally the individual game of the season (Kyries) to get to OT.

And Spurs weren't even where they are now, then.

Vegas still has Cavs as favorites.

The Spurs have won 8 straight games by at least 12 points. Second longest streak in NBA history!

No.

Warriors should still be the favorites.

They are slightly better imo and have homeport (which will matter a ton)...

i'm ok with it

If youre going to credit ginobili for being assist leader, you have to credit duncan for being rebounds and blocks leader

Also, how does a shortened regular season have any bearing on postseason performance?

Kobe stans are a joke

Duncan > Kobe

Deal with it

Duncan

1999-2012: The best player on the Spurs, every single year. The centerpiece of the franchise, both on the court and off. Exemplary behavior and leadership, both on the court and off.

Since then: Gracefully lowered his usage rate as he has aged, allowing his coach to transform his team into one of the greatest passing squads in history. Unselfishly leads by example, and still comes up huge in big playoff games.

By the way.. 2007.. Parker was the finals MVP because the entire Cavaliers defense was trying to stop Duncan. And he made the correct, unselfish play of allowing his fellow teammate, Tony Parker, to thrive.

Stop insulting the star player who exemplifies everything that is right about basketball.
