With playoffs around the corner, I though it would be a good idea to revisit the teams with no excuses, just to make sure ISH remembers which teams to keep an eye out for. This basically summarizes the teams that we should hold accountable, and criticize if they fall short of the championship
Lets break it down by conference
Western Conference
Sanantonio Spurs
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets
LA Clippers
OKC Thunder
Eastern Conference
Atlanta Hawks
Chicago Bulls
Miami Heat

OKC don't have an excuse but they're missing their best and 3rd best players. You take Kyrie and Love off of the Cavs and they certainly have an excuse for not winning it all, just like the Thunder.

People overvalue championships in evaluating teams.
A lot of the difference between RS and PS performance is luck rather than any specific flaw in a team being exposed or flipping a switch if things go well.
Seeding is often unfair because of differences in conference strength. 80s Western Teams and 21st Century Eastern Teams have generally had far easier roads to the title. The Clippers (53-26) and Cavs (50-27) serve as an example of how conference strength impacts the odds of winning a title. If the PS began today, the would possibly face Portland, Golden State and San Antonio to make the finals the average SRS of those teams is 7.06. The Cavs face a potential road to the finals of Brooklyn, Chicago and Atlanta who have an average SRS of 1.35. LA will potentially play far harder teams despite having a better RS.
An ATG team can lose in the PS due to a big injury and an inferior team's odds of winning the title can improve dramatically with timely injuries for the opposition.

U can only have one team with no excuses.... other wise the other "no excuses" team becomes the perfect excuse idiot.

2 starters out for Houston and their 2nd best player is barely getting back in game shape after being out the whole season with an injury.

I nominate this thread as dumbest of the week.
It's Cavs.
Everyone else contending has had injuries.

Wow 5 teams from the west and only 3 from the east? I expected more excuses for lebron to get to the finals.

Ironically, the only team in the league with no excuses are the Cavs.
Why? They play in the East, they're healthy, and they have multiple players with championship experience and 3 top 15 players.
What's the excuse? LeBron being a perennial choker is the only one I can think of. Other than that, they have none. It truthfully is championship or bust for them. That's in reality and not some autism fantasy land OP lives in.

When has a team with a first year NBA coach ever won a championship?
It is a huge disadvantage.

I agreed with the rest, but this was bullshit. Marion's barely been on the active roster of late, while Miller's lucky if he gets even 5 minutes of playing time a night. LeBron is the only player who'll see significant minutes that has even played in the Finals

Tbh if Lebron actually leads the Cavs to an insanely improbable championship this season, He instantly goes in the Top 2 alltime GOAT ranking. Only guy left ahead of Him would be Mikan and that spot could be overtaken with a second consecutive title next year.

I thought lebron was their coach? That's what all you stans say when things are going well. When they aren't it's a rookie coach to blame. I thought you were a good poster, but your agenda has you at a huge disadvantage.

How the f*ck can a player be the head coach? :hammerhead:
LeBron is the unquestioned leader and main playmaker, BIG DIFFERENCE

The only true "no excuses" team is the Clippers. If they can't win this year with CP3, Griffin, and Jordan at the top of their game and a championship coach, it's not going to happen. All the other teams have either proven themselves already or still have plenty of time. Not the Clippers.

To be fair Wilt was more like a circus attraction, passive-entertainment at his time, no one really expected him to win at competitive bball.
Most Wilt-era stans are happy with his 2/6

To say the Thunder, Bulls and Heat have no excuses is pretty idiotic. OKC is without their best player and reigning MVP and also their third best player is out, Chicago doesn't know what they have in their best player and Miami lost their best player to injury early in the season and have been struggling with injuries.
The Hawks and Cavs have no excuses in the East and out West it's GS.

I would love for us to have that championship or bust expectations bro, but Rose is still trying to get back to his MVP form. He has shown flashes that the athleticism is still there and as long as he doesn't suffer any more major setbacks, (the knee issues he had this season were to be expected) I think next season we'll see him be more consistent and play close to his MVP form.
Having said that, reports coming from the Bulls camp have stated that he has looked really good in practice and Rose has said he isn't feeling any more pain in his knee and is feeling the best he's felt in a long time. If he plays at 80-85% of what he's capable of, then we've got a legit shot at coming out of the East. OTOH, if he struggles, I don't see us beating ATL or CLE.
