Old and passed his prime but still feasting on the league's premiere big men at the time

Pity he let himself get fat and out of shape and consequently a defensive liability from 07 onwards.

one of the worst times to be a Suns fan. i will never forgive Steve Kerr for making that trade.

thankfully we reached the Western Conference Finals after that fatass left.

08 was his 16th year in the league and still averaged 18/8 in Phx
Best center the last few decades

Are you saying the man wasn't out of shape and like molasses on the defensive end? :oldlol:

Was a retarded trade by Kerr.

Will never forget the three pointer duncan hit against them. Legendary.

What? Suns made the WCF after Shaq left?

He wasn't that good defensively in '06 either. Remember Zo coming in for him during the end of games for defensive purposes? Zo got 4 blocks more than Shaq while playing 145 fewer minutes (~25 MPG over 6 games).

Should've won MVP's in '01 and '05. :facepalm

lol @ this hillbilly

if shaq was a "defensive liability" in 2009, then so was "duhwayne" when the big 3 assembled (2011). when on the floor, wade, individually, averaged a net negative - meaning that his teams were better defensively with him off the floor than on.

shaq was actually a net positive in 2008 (offense & defense) for the ENTIRE year - aside from a handful of role players that weren't given many minutes, shaq was in actuality a top 20 player in impact.

16 years in and still going strong. meanwhile, today, wade isn't even a top 40 impact player and, by comparison, is only in his 11th season.

According to that stat which you LOVE to use, Wade was better offensively than LeBron in '11, Deng and Josh Smith were better defenders than DPOY Dwight.
:oldlol: @ Shaq being a "good" defender from '06 onwards.

Good god, you're a ****ing moron.

Oh, and Wade is in his '12th season, shit for brains.

i dont argue lebron as the best player in 2011, and think its debatable between dirk & howard.

and again, consider minutes/roles. i have told you countless times that comparing apples & oranges will not yield genuine results. idiot.

various gm's & coaches around the league along with analysts who cover the sport (its basically espn's singular individual stat now) have zero qualms with this metric, and use it daily. what is your excuse?

mad that "duhwayne" was a net negative on defense in 2011? :oldlol: his last season in his prime. LMAO

they don't recognize greatness when its staring in front of their faces. to actually be one of the biggest net impact players for 16+ years is....unfathomable.

considering their build, shaq & kareem are definitely in a tier by themselves when we talk about longevity.

I'm not talking about the better player, dipshit. You have the reading comprehension of a 6 year old.

Josh Smith - ~34 Minutes
Dwight - ~37 Minutes
Deng - ~38 Minutes

They all played around the same number of minutes, but Smith and Deng have a better defensive RAPM than DPOY Dwight. :facepalm

Unlike you, I actually watch the games. I don't need stats telling me who the better player is/was. Any stat used without talking context (and watching the games) is basically worthless. Like you.

So, in '12, Wade (out of prime and injured) put up better numbers than PRIME LeBron did in his first two Finals? :oldlol:

Oh, a better offensive player in '12 than LeBron as well. An out of prime and injured Wade. :oldlol:

i am. whether wade was a better offensive player doesn't mean anything to me, so why bring it up? it's irrelevant.

in the end, lebron & dirk were better net impact players. :confusedshrug:

Josh Smith - ~34 Minutes
Dwight - ~37 Minutes
Deng - ~38 Minutes

what part of different roles do you not understand? dwight had a much bigger responsiiblity in orlando than these 2.

- relied on as the #1 option on offense
- relied on as the #1 rebounder
- relied on as the #1 defender on the team.

:hammerhead:

won't quote the rest of your post, because its getting away from the topic - but this one in particular doesn't do anyone good.

everybody watches the games. i watch all the games i can, especially ones with lebron, curry, wade & westbrook.

He was the DPOY and All-D First team member with a lower defensive RAPM than Deng and Smith. Smith. Josh ****ing Smith... :facepalm

Those guys didn't even make a pity All-D team with HIGHER (according to your retarded stat) defensive "impact" than Dwight.

low iq post

taking 2011 into totality, wade could be argued as one of the best offensive players in the league right there with lebron.

what separated the 2 was their defense.

all-teams and dpoy/mvp's are voted by coaches & the media.

kobe has made how many defensive teams that he shouldn't have? never mind the number of mvp/dpoy candidates people disagree with. dwight won dpoy because he's a big who, with more responsibility, also impacted the games, defensively, at a similar level - we're talking mere percentage points. the gap was not significant enough to make a concrete claim.

tl;dr - the stat is fine. try using your brain a little, and basic logic might start registering.

:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

Dwight won because the was THE best defender in the league. You DO know that the coaches vote for the All-D teams, right? Analysts vote for DPOY as well. The same coaches and analysts who you claim love the stat. You know that, right? So, these analysts and coaches who love the "impact" stat voted for a player with lesser defensive impact?

GTFOH, kid. You most definitely are clinically retarded. No wonder you are a LeBron stan.

dwight was one of the best defenders in the league. you could argue a couple of players were just as impactful.

the difference? dwight was an overall better player than those guys you mentioned.

i already said that media & coaches vote for DPOY/MVP & all-teams (media for the former and coaches for the latter). what's your point?
