They have shitty SF's, SG's, and bench PG's.

This hardly accounts for all of his offensive rebounds, but Andre Drummond surely gains a statistical boost from his large number of controlled but inaccurate tips. It almost seems as if it happens every single game at least once: player misses (often Andre himself), Drummond gets his hand in there to make contact, the ball is tipped well enough to be considered a shot but not well enough to go in, then the ball is tipped once again.
And to nip this one in the bud, I don't think Drummond misses make-able shots on purpose just to pad his rebounds (despite the article that came out earlier this year). Instead, what I think he was saying is that sometimes he finds himself with a look at the basket, but not a high level of ability to make the shot (because he's awful in the post), so he'll often chuck and chase preemptively, knowing he's awful.
Also, they miss, that's what the Pistons do with those extra possessions. Particularly after dealing Singer, Augustin, and Jerebko, they've become a three-point shooting Van Gundy team without three-point shooting. Though, when they're hitting a little, those offensive rebounds still come in quite useful.

They need to draft/obtain good wing players. Pure and simple.
Reggie seems like he's becoming a solid facilitator, so if they can a find decent/good players at the 2 and 3, they could become a factor in the East.

Too bad for them that Monroe will be Laker next season.
