Since being neutered, the NBA has not produced any real rivalries in the modern era. The closest we've seen post '00 was a watered down version of the 80s Celtics/Lakers, Bird/Magic rivalry. Guys aren't allowed to have personalities or show any emotion whatsoever on the basketball court now (Thank you Ron Artest :facepalm ). So that old school animosity that used to exist between players and franchises, that sense of bloodthirsty competition is dead.

90s Bulls-Knicks. Brutal fun. Whoever won knew they earned that in blood. Some of the guys on opposite sides were actually really good friends off the court (Jordan and Ewing/Oakley) but on the court... completely different story. :pimp:

All 3 were intense rivalries and each team hated the other with passion. You wouldn't see daps at halftime like you did from the Heat and Pacers in the past 3 years of a playoff game.

the celtics big 3 was the inspiration for the heat big 3 because wade/LBJ couldnt beat them alone, so there was history and legit hate. LBJ even admit that his biggest rival was paul pierce.

I didnt see that as a true rivalry because there wasn't much two way hate. It was more like little brother (pacers) trying to beat big brother (heat), than a real heated rivalry where both teams were equal.
