Technology will kill us, it is obvious at this point. Too much technology in the hands of random people will kill us off. Some time in the coming decades it will be possible to literally print diseases. The code for Ebola is actually online right now, you just have to wait for the nanotechnology needed to 3D print the disease.
Technology will create super artificial intelligence which if used for the wrong reasons will wipe out humanity immediately. It is only a matter of time before some terrorists or crazy people or just plain retards use this shit wrong and its lights out for everybody.
This is probably the answer to Fermi's Paradox. That is the question that if there are so many trillions of planets out there that aliens should theoretically be living on, why have we seen nothing?
They probably all died off when their technology became too strong, and didn't survive long enough for their technology to be able to let them visit us or each other.
I am rambling, but I find it impossible to see how we can survive here with all the new technology and the dangers that will come with it.
Someone who is well educated on this field, please enlighten me on your views on this topic.

As far as what I know, we don't gotta worry about the Singularity for a couple more decades at minimum.
No one really knows what to expect after that. AI is def a pretty scary concept so Asimov's laws and a few other additions have to be implemented to be on the safe side
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
This is a must in any programing

The fact that you an op think this way. Fear of technology leads me to believe you both have watched way too many movies terminator and i robot lol.
You are speculating about the world ending does not make it obvious at all. There has always been generatioms believing the world was about to end. Remember the 2012 theory??
Its not going to end dipshts lol.
As for the alien thing. im sure they exsist somewhere and if there is a reason we havent been in contact its because the universe if fuking massive and we have only been to the damn moon. once again movies lead us to believe that if there are aliens they will be smarter then us and have space travel. we may be more advanced then some of them out there and thats why we havent seen them. Because they havent even masterd space travel.

lol I ain't worried about it because I will be dead when AI and shit like that starts coming up. I'm not saying this is gonna happen soon but it is something that future scientists will have to take into consideration when the rate of technological advancement increases

your thinking isnt sound. lets assume people can 3d print diseases, then people can just as easily 3d print vaccines.

Movies, however cheesy they may be are often following some sort of realism. AI is a real concept, read up on it and you will see just how at threat we are.
With regards to the aliens, it is literally almost impossible that we are the first and most advanced race, if other aliens do indeed exist. The Universe has existed for 14 billion years, and the Earth has only existed for 4.5 billion years. There are plenty trillions of planets out there that have existed longer than the Earth, and potential life on there would have evolved MUCH earlier than we have. If another planet out there harboured evolving species in a similar way to Earth, but had existed 5 billion years before our Earth, then theoretically the beings on that planet should be 5 BILLION years more advanced than us. When you look at how much technology is made in a decade or a century, it is impossible for them not to have found a way to contact us or see us with 5 billion years worth of advanced technology. Not only have we seen or heard from no one, but we have never so much as picked up a radio frequency out from space. It is as dead as a dodo. The chances of us being the only beings around are too slim to accept. Something must have happened to them.

Has the OP ever been right about anything though?

I was thinking less AI and more religious fanaticism, particularly from the Middle East region once oil is replaced as the worlds' number one energy source. Oil is the only reason there is a semblance of order in the region. With technology advancing where world ending bio and nuclear weapons start to become within reach of determined individuals, hopeless young Muslim men will be looking to take down the world with them. Our only hope will be to hunt down and kill all violent radicals, identify the gene that leads to extremism and sterilize all individuals who carry it.

i tend to agree with you on this stuff, and that technology in the hands of the masses tends to be self-destructive for the species as a whole.
If another planet out there harboured evolving species in a similar way to Earth, but had existed 5 billion years before our Earth, then theoretically the beings on that planet should be 5 BILLION years more advanced than us.
not necessarily. things rarely work so linearly. if life on earth is any model, life involves peaks and crashes, unexpected disasters and recoveries. you never know what's around the next corner, so to speak.
When you look at how much technology is made in a decade or a century, it is impossible for them not to have found a way to contact us or see us with 5 billion years worth of advanced technology.
not necessarily. some may be able to see us (just as we're about to be able to see them), but contacting another species across the vastness of space... when even light slows to a crawl... is a huge proposition and not even necessarily a good idea. (hawking thinks it's a terrible idea and i think he's right)
anyway, i answered your Q from the first post in a new thread. hope you enjoy.

Duck and cover.
I've been on ISH too long today. Read that as "Dunk and cover."
Finally a quality post. Good read. Something I never actually thought about, being too technology revolutionized to the point the planet actually destroys itself. Mhm.
Watch this OP, you will really like it. Vsauce talking about the potential of human extinction in the near future. It is 8 minutes long. He even talks about the Ebola printing thing.
