He has been put in a situation/position to be able to sustain that longevity though almost his entire career... a great team & coach/system that play 24-7 team ball, excellent complementary players, doesnt have to play much... and still achieve success.... he is used perfectly.... its fantastic...

I mean if he would have played with scrubs only half his career he would have been forced to play more & much harder to try and win.... that would have logically weared him out more...

yeah, I was surprised but I guess I am naive... because I was like well ok. Didn't think he could have passed dudes like Kareem and Parish, tho. I doubt he can get the record... Parish was a beast.

Doesn't even have the most games played of active players. Playoffs included or just the regular season. Does have the most playoff games played of active players, tho. A bit ahead of Kobe (220 to Duncan's 234).

He's lucky his teams haven't needed him to play a ton of minutes to be successful, dude's been on minutes restriction for like 10 years now IIRC.

last time he averaged 35+ mpg in a regular season was 03-04 :kobe:

31.5 mpg in the last 11 seasons

not even close, tbh

Games (Regular Season + Playoffs)

1. Kareem 1797
2. Parish 1795

6. Duncan 1564

that said, Duncan needs one more win to reach another milestone.

Won (Regular Season + Playoffs)

1. Kareem 1228
2. Parish 1121
3. Duncan 1099

So Duncan ISN'T one of the best scorers ever? Color me surprised.
relative to his era, prime Duncan was a scoring machine in the playoffs.

He conveniently omitted the playoffs and brought the regular season, when Pop micromanages everything.

Of course, Kobe scoring numbers can be attributed to the rule changes ... Duncan was the superior scorer until 2005-06.

Playoffs Leaders for Points

1. Jordan 5987
2. Kareem 5762
3. Kobe 5640
4. Shaq 5250
5. Duncan 4988

Playoffs (2001 - 2007)

30 pt game on FG% .500

1. Duncan 23 games
2. Shaq 21 games
3. Dirk 19 games
4. Wade 15 games
5. Kobe 13 games

Playoffs (2001 - 2007)

25 pt game on FG% .500

1. Shaq 43 games
2. Duncan 37 games
3. Dirk 27 games
4. Kobe 18 games
5. Wade 18 games
